FAQ: WHAT QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE DO YOU HAVE?

I have worked professionally in adult care for around seven years.

During that time, I worked for two well-established care providers before becoming an independent private carer, where I've spent the last few years supporting people on a long-term basis.

My experience includes supporting people living with dementia, stroke recovery, reduced mobility, diabetes, anxiety, depression, cognitive impairment, physical disabilities, and many other age-related conditions. Every person is different, and I've learnt that good care begins with understanding the individual, their routines, their wishes, and the way they want to live.

I hold a nationally recognised certificate of training which, following changes to the qualifications framework last year, is now recognised as equivalent to an RQF Level 2 qualification in Adult Care. Additionally, I have completed specialist stroke care training, maintain an Enhanced DBS check, and carry professional carer insurance.

Over the years, I've worked closely with families, GPs, district nurses, hospitals, occupational therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals to help ensure people receive consistent, well-coordinated care.

The greatest recognition has come from the people who welcomed me into their homes and trusted me to care for those they love.

Many of my clients stayed with me for years, and I remained with them until they no longer needed me or until the end of their lives. That continuity allowed genuine relationships to develop and gave me a deep understanding of each person's needs, habits, and personality.

My aim is to help people feel safe, respected, understood, comfortable, and as independent as possible. I believe the best care grows from trust, patience, clear communication, and paying attention to the little things that make everyday life easier.

If you have any questions about my experience or would like to discuss your situation, I'd be happy to have a friendly chat with no obligation.

FAQ: WHAT ARE YOUR RATES?

My fees start from £22 per hour. To put that into context, independent private carers typically charge around £18–£28 per hour, with many experienced carers charging around £25 per hour. Home care agencies often charge clients £26–£38 per hour, so my fees remain competitive while reflecting the experience and level of service I provide.

The final rate depends on a number of factors, including the location, the number of hours and days required, the type of support, the level of responsibility, and the complexity of the care.

I have extensive experience providing both physical care and cognitive and emotional support and understanding. I am particularly good with dementia, but I am skilled with other complex care needs. The level of skill and responsibility required will naturally be reflected in the fee.

To give you an idea, a couple of years ago I had one client paying under £20 per hour and another paying £30 per hour at the same time. Every situation is different, so I'd really like to know more about your situation before discussing a final figure.

FAQ: WHAT KIND OF CARE CAN YOU PROVIDE?

Quite a wide range, actually. Some people need very little help. Others require more.

Over the years I have worked with people with dementia, Parkinson's disease, physical disabilities, reduced mobility, diabetes, anxiety, depression, and many other conditions.

With seven years of experience in care, I can take complete responsibility for somebody's daily and weekly routine. This includes personal care, nutrition, cooking from scratch, meal planning, shopping, medication support, food and fluid charts, continence charts, weight monitoring, exercise, cognitive stimulation, transport, running errands, household organisation, and general day-to-day support.

I can also provide complex 24/7 care. Where continuous cover requires more than one carer, I can work together with trusted colleagues to provide uninterrupted support. In fact, that was our most recent arrangement, and there are now three of us with current availability who can work together if required.

I also believe good care goes beyond completing tasks. Understanding the individual, building trust, maintaining routine, and having meaningful conversation are just as important as the practical side of care.

I can communicate and coordinate with the support network, including family members, GPs, district nurses, carers, pharmacies, hospitals, and other healthcare professionals. I can organise daily, weekly, and long-term schedules, attend appointments, keep records up to date, and, if necessary, keep the household running.

Every person is different, and so is every care package. I prefer to adapt my support to the individual rather than expect the individual to adapt to me.

No job is too big or small. Care needs to be right. If you are unsure whether I can help with your particular situation, just get in touch.

FAQ: WHY DO YOU ONLY HAVE PHOTOGRAPHS OF YOURSELF, AND NOT WITH CLIENTS?

Have you ever noticed that when you consciously smile for a photograph, it often doesn't look natural? That is because you are thinking about the photograph instead of simply being yourself.

In much the same way, I have never organised for somebody to come and photograph me while I am working with my clients. Nor is that something I would ever stage for social media. As a result, I simply do not have many photographs of that nature.

You are seeing me, because I have no problem sharing photographs of myself. I also have photographs with happy clients, but I do not feel at liberty to publish them online.

If you would like to meet me, I will be happy to present photographs, references, testimonials, and stories from the people I have supported.

FAQ: WHAT AREAS DO YOU COVER?

I love St Albans and Harpenden. I would consider them the epicentre of the area I cover.

That said, I am happy to commute to other places nearby within a reasonable time and, for the right client, even further away.

I drive. Transport is no issue.

Q: WHY HAS THE PAGE NOT BEEN ACTIVE?

Because I was busy. I set out to work privately. I made the page, yes. Before the page had a chance to grow, I got busy, and I have been working since.

Sadly, the page was never a priority. Also, sadly, my client recently passed away, and now I find myself getting back to that page again.

Right now, I have availability, experience, references, DBS, insurance, and a lot more to offer.

And I am happy to answer all questions. Thank you!

THOUGHT: DIVERSITY

All the most beautiful and brilliant things in the world are made by narcissistic people.

All the most interesting and extraordinary things are made by schizoid people.

All the best, kindest and most beautiful things are made by depressed people.

All the most impossible things in the world are made by psychopaths.

All the so-called normal people have contributed almost nothing to human history.

WHAT IS YOUR NAME AGAIN?

After having a philosopher for mentor, and after studying theology with debates on regular basis, I must admit that I had no clue that some of my most intelligent conversations will end up being with people regarded as, well, "cognitively impaired" is considered a polite therm.

"Yes Mr Client, it is not only pleasant conversation for me too, I also feel blessed to receive your attention and feedback, and I take pride in my ability to have such an experience with you."

"I Remember... I remembered your name".

People would call me Peter. I grew up as a young adult here in the UK, for the last 11 years. I am 33 now. Some even told me not even so young anymore.

My experience as a home care assistant exceeds 30 months, during which I worked for two of the most reputable care companies and occasionally worked privately. I have been delighted to visit the hundreds of people I've gladly provided understanding and help of all sorts.

This experience helped me to find a professional identity and I am now open to stepping up as self-employed care professional in the local community.

My managers and supervisors always have referred to me as a very experienced carer, and I often trained very successfully new recruits that come on board to have their first care experience doubling up with me.

I've proven great skills and understanding, working with both -- physical and mental health. Receiving complimentary calls and exceptional feedback is ordinary for me. I normally raise the bar very high.

I have a background in philosophy, psychology, sport, nutrition, and religion, as well as music and art. People (clients and colleagues) report feeling comfortable and safe in my presence, and that I possess great patience, and calm but solid nature, including when the situation may be perceived as stressful to some. I am never confused about what would be the right thing to do.

I work with initiative and a desire to help, as well as my conduct is supported by a care certificate, and I am currently doing my Level 3 in Adult Care. I understand people from all backgrounds and all conditions.

I would be happy to meet and discuss further my profile and my ability to help and provide clients with the best service there could be. I am currently able to take on more work.
