A perfect way to spend a Friday morning: a walk through Heartwood Forest, foraging and gathering inspiration in preparation for our solstice walk later this month.”

Standing on one leg and then closing your eyesβ€”takes the exercise from a simple balance challenge to a much more demanding test of your body's stability systems.

That's why balance coaches and exercise programs such as Total Body WALX often use:
One-leg stance
One-leg stance with eyes closed
Standing on an unstable surface
Head turns while balancing
These progressively challenge the body's ability to maintain stability.

Move It Monday at Redbourn, a total body walking workout across the fields and along the Nicky Line. Some brisk walking with a reverse train circuit to elevate the heart rate, some strength exercise and a balance sequence on the common. A cooler morning with a gentle breeze for some mindful movement. 😊

A great walk at Ridge this morning across open countryside and farmland, with an abundance of wildflowers. The Striders were challenged by the dry, rugged terrain and overgrown brambles, but were rewarded by encounters with some very friendly Palomino horses.
The walk was rounded off perfectly with a sumptuous breakfast at the Old Guinea β€” absolutely fabulous! πŸ³β˜•πŸŒΌπŸ₯Ύ

A lovely Explorer WALX along the River Lea, Wheathampstead, and the Ayot Greenway. The warm temperatures were tempered by welcome stretches of shade. Summer flowers are beginning to bloom in abundance, with emerging poppies creating vibrant red carpets across the landscape. A wonderful way to spend a Saturday morning. 🌞

A warm morning at the Heartwood Arboretum. From a short section in shade to the paths opening into the wildflower meadows around the Arboretum. Plenty of water stops to keep hydrated as we maintained a good pace. 😎
