A huge thank you to Caerhays Castle Gardens for choosing us as the main charity partner for this year's Summer Fête held on a gorgeous day back in June.

We were delighted to visit the castle recently and receive the incredible news that the event raised an amazing £5,000!

It was a wonderful day filled with lovely people, community spirit and fantastic support. Thank you to everyone who attended, donated and helped make the event such a success.

Often when people talk about health conditions the focus is on the physical challenges this can bring. However, everyday we see first hand the impact a chronic or acute condition can have on mental health.

It can affect confidence, independence, relationships and emotional wellbeing. That's why what we do is about so much more than just physical rehabilitation.

Through therapy, exercise, and creating space for lasting friendships, we help people reconnect with the things they love, regain confidence and realise they're not facing their journey alone.

This World Mental Health Day, we're celebrating every moment that can with it bring hope.

John shoots...he scores!

John is, a proud Cornishman, husband to Sandra, and devoted dog owner to their cockapoo, Ernie.
Before his stroke, John lived life to the full. He ran his own coach and minibus company for more than 30 years, loved travelling, walking, cycling, fishing and spending time with family and friends. If it had wheels or needed rebuilding, John was usually involved.
In April 2024, everything changed when John suffered a brain bleed while mowing the lawn. Following emergency surgery and a difficult recovery, John returned home unable to walk independently and reliant on a wheelchair and support from his wife.
Determined to continue his recovery, John and Sandra found Merlin Neuro Therapy Centre.
Since becoming a client, John has worked tirelessly with our therapy team during physiotherapy and hydrotherapy sessions. Together, they have focused on rebuilding his strength, balance, mobility and confidence, always working towards the things that matter most to John.
Today, John can walk using a tripod, negotiate pool steps, use his affected arm and hand more effectively, walk outdoors across different surfaces and as the video shows play water basketball!

But for John, the biggest change is not just physical.
"I really believe that coming to the Centre was when I started to get my life back."
He and Sandra are once again enjoying holidays, meeting friends and spending quality time together. The simple moments that once felt impossible are becoming part of everyday life again.
John's journey reminds us that recovery is about more than physical movement. It's about rebuilding confidence, independence, hope and quality of life.
