These are examples of floating navel piercings (including a lower floating navel) — a perfect alternative when traditional navel anatomy just isn’t suitable.
A “standard” navel piercing requires enough of a defined lip/shelf to safely support the jewellery. If that structure isn’t there, forcing a traditional piercing can lead to irritation, rejection, migration, and poor healing… and we don’t want that

Every body is different, and part of our job is assessing anatomy and choosing the safest, most flattering option for you. Sometimes that means adapting the technique—not saying no, just doing it properly 💁🏼‍♀️
