Did you know, Cornwall and Devon have the highest number of deaths by accidental drowning in the UK.
National Water Safety Forum have released figures that have revealed 193 people died from accidental drowning in 2024, 133 of these were in England and 9 of these in Cornwall.
So, what are some of the things you can do to ensure you and
- Always visit a Lifeguarded beach
- Educate you and your family about the flags you may find on these beaches
- Learn how to recognise a rip current
- Follow the RNLI's advise of Float to Live https://brnw.ch/21x3tOG
- If you see someone in trouble, throw something that floats to them, call 999 and never go in to help them
