To our young people and all others out there who received their GCSE results today. Remember:

* To take a moment, if you have done well praise yourself. If you did not get the results you wanted… it’s OK

* GCSE exams are a snapshot of your hard work and knowledge, it is not the end of you didn’t get the grades.

* There are lots of other options

* Exams can be resat and achieved at any age

Look out for our dates in September and October to complete Functional Skills- Assessments that enable you to gain functional Maths and English.

🥲 Sad Post Alert 🥲

Last week, the lovely little Dotty gained her angel wings.

At the ripe age of 16years old, Dotty was seen in the early days of Overloaded and had given many cuddles to young people in years before.

Dotty has been a part of ‘Pet Corner’ in our Learning SENtre and will be missed by many.

Animals have been a big part of our work, many young people have learnt through connecting and understanding non verbal behaviours. It shows the caring, loving side to young people- we will continue to explore animals whilst Dotty has a good rest.

Thank you for a busy day in the shop yesterday. We really appreciate the customers who came in.

As a not for profit organisation, we are not funded through the summer, however…. Our dedicated team are working extra to ensure we keep the gift shop open.

This allows the support for crafters and young people of St Neots to continue.

Please continue to visit, there are lovely gifts and cards for all occasions and every purchase matters.

The summer opening hours are:

Thurs, Fri - 9.30am-2.30pm
Saturdays 10am-2pm

🤗😎 Summer is here! 🤗😎

We have completed another academic year at the Overloaded Alternative provision. What a year! A little reflection before summer:

🤗 In December we got registered approval with a great awarding body

🤗 We developed our Post 16 ReLoaded L1:L2 Qualification. This covers meaningful vocational options, employment skills, SEMH skills and pathways to adulthood. We have been searching the right qualification for some time

🤗 became a registered exams centre- no more offsite exams. This has lead to 💯 % pass rate. Currently in Cambs schools the pass rate is 49.6%

🤗supported work experience young people from local schools

🤗 developed our cooking course- and even tried the recipes out on the mayor, MP and Lord Lieutenant

🤗continued to use our own developed SEMH framework- the national curriculum does not offer this. The progress in this area this year has been phenomenal.

🤗 survived a CCC inspection and maintain our outstanding grade

🤗 entered a new inspection framework with CBC.

🤗 moved into a new Dynamic system with CCC for referrals meaning the last 2 months, we have had our highest amount of referrals ever

🤗 the gift shop remained a pillar of our support network. Despite competition coming into town. We remain and our crafters have remained loyal

🤗 have completed staff training and staff days to plan for the year ahead.

🤗 staff retention has continued- have long lasting effective staff has helped grow the provision to what it is today- we have some exciting new additions coming

All of the above does not include the day to day hard work the team, young people crafters and families put in.

🤗🥰Your Support is appreciated🥰🤗

The Overloaded Gift shop opened its doors in March 2022, in Fishers Yard StNeots.

Since then, many young people have developed employment skills and confidence. The shop has met wonderful, thoughtful local crafters who support young people.

This support, changes lives of many young people and their families in and around St Neots. A percentage of sales goes back into the Not for Profit Organisation, whilst the rent and business rates are paid for separately.

These donations have helped secure 1:1support for young people, experiences, days out, money to pay for resources and recently a push bike to support independence.

Check out our page to see, it is much more than a gift shop and keep supporting.

As we approach the summer holidays, our opening days/times will change slightly. From today:

Saturdays 10am-2pm
Thursday 9.30am - 2.30pm
Friday 9.30am-2.30pm

👸🫅the Overloaded Prom 2026 👸🫅

Last night, saw the first Overloaded Prom. The theme was glam and dress to impress.

Wow, did the young people impress!! As part of a creative studies project, a group planned it, designed it and made decorations, play lists and food.

The evening was magical- the ‘name in stars’ glittery pink carpet, opened the way to a transformed SENtre. Every detail was covered, with a balloon arch leading thought to a dancing disco room. The very talented E made the playlist, was a superb DJ, taking requests and dealing with the spontaneous Karaoke. The dance floor was full all night.

The slushy machine was a treat, along with ’sGifts who donated sweet cones for all young people.

Tesco Extra St neots Community Team kept us hydrated with cans of drink and treats.

’scoffeeshopbuckden were very kind, donating their large air conditioning unit for our downstairs space. This kept everyone cool.

An enjoyable evening for all and what a way to finish the year!

Great fun was had today. A group went to the park for a game of Rounders and UNO.

Another group went fishing, caught some fish and cooked Bacon sarnies.

In the kitchen at the SENtre, we had the debate of cream or jam on first? Raisins or no raisins? - Home made scones.

The flexibility of being able to complete exams and assessments when young people are ready, has been invaluable this year.

We thought we had completed all exams until a young person committed and said, ‘ I am ready… ‘ today she completed her Level 1 English at our learning SENtre.

A good day at the farm, saw tidying, mowing and planning for the summer break. A well earned BBQ with burgers from Gilbert's Family Butchers - St. Neots was also enjoyed.
