Thinking About Lobe Piercings for Your Child This Summer? ๐
The summer holidays can seem like the perfect time to get a piercing, but there are a few important things to keep in mind before booking:
โจ Planning a Holiday?
Swimming in pools, the sea, or hot tubs isnโt recommended for at least a month after a new piercing. Ideally, wait until itโs fully healed. Moisture and bacteria can lead to irritation or infection, so itโs safest to book once youโre home.
โจ School Policies
If your childโs school doesnโt allow earrings, itโs worth knowing that six weeks is rarely enough healing time. Lobe piercings can take two to three months to fully heal. Removing earrings too early can cause the piercing to close, irritation or infection. Itโs a good idea to speak to the school about clear retainers or whether piercings can be covered during healing.
โจ Check Your Piercers Age Limit
My age limit is 8+, this is due to multiple reasons such as insurance, consent and ear growth. At this age, children are usually able to understand aftercare and take part in keeping their piercings clean & safe.
โจ Keep Hair and Ears Dry
If your child often leaves their hair wet after showers or baths, try clipping it up and gently drying behind the ears with a towel or cool/warm hairdryer to help keep the area dry and clean.
๐ก A few other gentle reminders:
- Avoid twisting or touching the earrings
- Supervise aftercare until fully healed
- Avoid contact sports or rough play
- Choose implant-grade titanium for best results and safety
Piercings can be a lovely milestone and doing it at the right time helps ensure the best possible healing and long-term success. If you have any questions or want to book in, feel free to send a message.
