Tomorrow it’s my turn to return to school!
If I’m honest, I’m feeling nervous, excited, sad, hopeful, apprehensive, and quite overwhelmed. Eeek!
Rather than stay busy this weekend and tell myself I shouldn’t feel these things, I’ve been trying to make space for all of them. Because feelings don’t always need fixing. Sometimes they need noticing, naming, understanding, mainly needing a little room to exist and be heard. Feelings are messages and I’m trying to listen in to what they wish me to know.
Perhaps that’s one of the gifts of therapy too, in having somewhere you don’t have to tidy-up your feelings before you bring them in to your session.
How about you?
💭 What feelings are you carrying at the moment?
💭 Are there emotions you find yourself pushing away or judging?
💭 What might change if, instead of asking “How do I get rid of this feeling?”, you asked “What might this feeling be trying to tell me?”
You don’t have to have everything figured out before you reach out for support. You can simply arrive in therapy with whatever is there for you. I look forward to hearing from you.
As for me, I have a new sand tray at the ready and packed ALL the resources I could possibly need and more so yes I am ready for a new beginning.
And yes, I have new school shoes! 😉
