This week marks Carers Week, a national awareness week dedicated to recognising and celebrating the incredible contribution of carers. 💜

A cancer diagnosis impacts not only the person receiving treatment, but also the family members, friends and loved ones who walk alongside them.
While we acknowledge the strength, courage and resilience of those facing cancer, we also want to recognise the carers who provide comfort, practical support and reassurance throughout the journey.

Whether it's attending appointments, offering a listening ear, helping with day-to-day tasks or simply being there when it matters most, carers play an invaluable role.

This Carers Week, we say thank you to everyone affected by cancer - patients and carers alike. Your strength, compassion and determination inspire us every day.

To all carers supporting someone through cancer and beyond:
💜Thank you for your dedication
💜Thank you for your resilience
💜Thank you for your love and strength

You are an essential part of the care journey, and your role does not go unnoticed.

If you or someone you care about is going through a cancer journey at Salisbury District Hospital and would benefit from support, please don't hesitate to contact the Cancer Support Team. They offer emotional and practical advice and support. You can reach them via the hospital switchboard on 01722 336262, extension 2417. 💜

📣 Update: Cancer Awareness Van Pilot

We would like to share that our community Cancer Awareness pilot has now come to an end.

Over the course of the project, we’ve been truly encouraged by the level of engagement, openness, and interest shown by our community. Thank you to everyone who took the time to visit the van, ask questions, share your experiences, and support conversations around cancer awareness and early detection.

Your participation has played an important role in helping raise awareness and encouraging people to think more about their health and wellbeing. We are grateful for the trust and enthusiasm you’ve shown throughout the pilot.

Although the van is no longer in operation, the conversations it started will continue. We remain committed to supporting cancer awareness and improving access to information and services in the community.

Thank you once again for being part of this important initiative. 💙

🎗Skin Cancer Awareness Matters 🎗

Melanoma and other forms of skin cancer can affect anyone, but early detection saves lives.
Take a moment to check your skin for any new or changing moles, spots, or unusual marks.

🧴 Protect your skin:
✔️ Wear sunscreen daily
✔️ Use protective clothing and hats
✔️ Avoid excessive sun exposure
✔️ Never ignore changes in your skin

A simple skin check could make all the difference. Encourage your loved ones to stay sun safe and schedule regular skin exams. 💛

💜 This week is Dementia Action Week 💜

Dementia Action Week is a national awareness campaign led by Alzheimer's Society, encouraging people and organisations to come together to take action and support those affected by dementia.

This year, everyone is encouraged to support the Forget Me Not Appeal. 🌼

Behind every Forget Me Not badge is a story — stories of individuals and families whose lives have been impacted by dementia. When we wear the badge together, it becomes a symbol of hope, unity, support, and action.

Dementia affects millions of people around the world, including not only those living with the condition, but also their loved ones, carers, and friends.

🧠 Dementia is not a normal part of ageing. It can affect:
• Memory
• Thinking and concentration
• Behaviour and mood
• Communication and everyday tasks

Recognising the signs early and accessing the right support can make a meaningful difference to quality of life.

During Dementia Action Week, let’s work together to raise awareness, challenge stigma, and show compassion to everyone affected. Kindness, patience, and understanding truly matter. 💜

💙Bladder cancer is one of the most common cancers, yet many people don’t know the signs and symptoms.

Early detection can save lives.

Today, let’s raise awareness, support those fighting this disease, remember loved ones we’ve lost, and encourage everyone to listen to their bodies and seek medical advice when something feels wrong.

To everyone battling bladder cancer: you are strong, seen, and not alone. 💙
