🎃 Halloween is fast approaching, but for some people in our community, it can be a worrying time.

Unexpected knocks, unfamiliar visitors and scary costumes can feel overwhelming, particularly for older people and those living with dementia or anxiety.

At Wilton Care Services, we’ve created door signs for people to hang on their doors to let others know they aren’t taking part in Halloween.

These aren’t just for the people we care for — they’re available to anyone who would like one. If you’re not taking part in Halloween this year, please message us or call 01722 685197. We’d be happy to supply you with a sign.

If you’re out trick-or-treating, please look out for these signs and respect the request not to knock. It’s a small act of kindness that can make a big difference.

Sunday care, Every Day of the Week

Sundays are often a day for slowing down, spending time with family and enjoying the little things.

But care doesn’t stop just because it’s the weekend.

At Wilton Care Services, our dedicated carers continue to support people in their own homes throughout the week, including weekends, helping them remain safe, comfortable and independent.

Whether it’s a friendly face popping in, preparing a meal, helping around the home, collecting medication or simply providing some much needed companionship, we’re proud to be there when it matters.

Very Well Done Ladies!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ WE DID IT AGAIN! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Yesterday we had an unannounced food hygiene inspection… and we got 5 stars! 🥹❤️

We’re SO proud. We put so much care into everything we do behind the scenes, so to have that recognised really does mean a lot.

And it’s our second 5-star rating! 🙌🏻✨

A huge thank you to the Food Standards Agency for all the guidance, support and for patiently answering all our (many 😂) questions!

Lots of hard work goes on behind the scenes that you don’t always see, so today we’re having a little 5-star happy dance. 💃🏻⭐️

And most importantly, thank you to all of you who keep walking through our doors, grabbing a coffee, eating cake, joining a workshop and supporting our little business. ❤️

We’ll keep working hard to make sure every visit is as lovely, safe and delicious as it can be! ☕️🍰✨

The evenings will soon start drawing in and temperatures will begin dropping.

For older people and those living alone, autumn is a useful time for families to think ahead.

Is the heating working?
Are prescriptions up to date?
Is there enough food in?
Are paths and entrances safe?
Does someone have regular contact?

A few simple preparations now can make the colder months much easier.

Dementia doesn't remove the person.

A diagnosis may change some things, but the individual remains.

Their favourite music.

Their sense of humour.

Their routines.

Their memories.

The things that make them comfortable.

And the people they love.

Supporting somebody living with dementia means understanding the person, not simply managing the diagnosis.

𝐒𝐚𝐯𝐞 𝐚 𝐋𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐒𝐞𝐩𝐭𝐞𝐦𝐛𝐞𝐫 – 𝐒𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐲

St John Ambulance Salisbury & South Wiltshire Network is holding a Save a Life September event on 26 September.

Knowing basic first aid can make a huge difference when somebody becomes seriously unwell or injured.

It's something we'd encourage people of all ages to consider learning.

You never know when you might need it.

On 19 September, people will once again come together for Salisbury Hospice's Midnight Walk.

It's an opportunity to walk in memory, celebration and support of loved ones while raising funds for an incredibly important local service.

Many families across Salisbury, Wilton and South Wiltshire will have experienced the difference hospice care can make at one of the most difficult times of their lives.

Wishing everyone taking part a wonderful and meaningful evening.
