🚗 Car Park Safety Notice 🚗
We’d like to kindly remind all patients and visitors to take extra care when using our car park.
Over the past month, we have unfortunately had three incidents where vehicles have rolled down the hill due to handbrakes not being fully secured, resulting in damage after hitting the wall.
To help keep everyone safe, please remember to:
✅ Fully apply your handbrake
✅ Leave your car in gear (or ‘park’ for automatics)
✅ Double-check your vehicle is secure before leaving it

Quay Lane Surgery is looking for a qualified Dispensing Assistant or Dispenser (NVQ Level 2 or equivalent) to join our friendly team for 27.5 hours per week.
Based in our rural practice in St. Germans (with a branch at Downderry), you’ll play a vital role in supporting our dispensary, helping us deliver high-quality care to our patients — we dispense to around 97% of our population.

Our dispensary will be closed and our telephones will not be coming through to our teams.

If you have an urgent medical need during this time, and you cannot wait until we re-open at 08.30 on Friday 1st May please call the surgery number, you will then be connected to our answering service who will direct you accordingly.

We are running catch-up clinics across Cornwall (by appointment only) for children in Years 7–11 who may have missed their routine vaccinations, including:

• HPV vaccine – from Year 8 (for both boys and girls)
• Tetanus, Diphtheria and Polio (Td/IPV) – final booster from Year 9
• Meningitis ACWY – from Year 9

If you’re not sure whether your child has missed a vaccination, please get in touch. Our team can check their record and book you into a clinic if needed.

📣 Meningitis Outbreak Update – Important Information for Our Patients

We are aware of concerns following the recent meningitis outbreak in Kent. UKHSA has confirmed 15 cases and is currently running a targeted Men B vaccination programme only for students living in halls at the University of Kent. T

This is not a wider public programme at this time.

If you’ve been advised to check your vaccination history (e.g., by a university), you can view your past vaccines via the NHS App under your GP health record.
👉 Please note: We are not currently able to offer Men B vaccinations unless national guidance changes.

What You Should Do
It remains important for everyone to be aware of early symptoms of meningitis and septicaemia, as these conditions can progress very quickly.
UKHSA emphasises that signs such as fever, headache, rash that doesn’t fade under pressure, vomiting, cold hands/feet, confusion, and rapid deterioration require urgent attention.
If you or someone you know develops symptoms:

👉 Call 999 in an emergency
