We talk about healing like it’s a straight line, but my ankle just reminded me it absolutely isn’t.

I’m recovering from a complete ligament tear in my ankle , and these last few days the swelling has flared again. The old me would have gone straight into panic, frustration, and self‑blame.

New me knows that healing is never linear… but I still watched myself slipping into the old thought pattern, and that’s the part we don’t talk about enough.

This is exactly what I help with in my coaching, whether it’s managing stress , habit change, or chronic condition management.

Your nervous system doesn’t heal in straight lines.
Your body doesn’t rebuild in straight lines.
Your mindset doesn’t shift in straight lines.

There are dips.
There are pauses.
There are “I thought I was past this” moments.

Part of the work is noticing the story you tell yourself in those moments.
Mine used to be “I’m failing.”
Now it’s “My body is doing its best, what does it need today?”

That one shift changes everything.

MOST WOMEN DON'T REALISE THIS........
but when you’re stuck in your sympathetic nervous system, your body is in fight‑or‑flight mode.

And in fight‑or‑flight, your body has one job:
Run from the bear.

Except in modern life…
there is no bear.

There’s just:
the workload
the pressure
the mental load
the caring
the rushing
the “I’ll rest later”
the “I’m fine”
the constant, quiet overwhelm

And when your body thinks you’re running from danger all the time, it stops prioritising the things that keep you well:

digestion
hormones
reproduction
immune function
deep rest
repair
energy

This is why so many women 40+ feel “off”… even when their bloods are “fine”.

This is why symptoms creep in.
This is why you don’t feel like yourself.
This is why the prescription helps… but doesn’t restore.

Because you can’t heal in the same state you got unwell in.

Your symptoms aren’t random.
They’re information.
And your body is asking for a different kind of support.

The sooner you can recognise when you’re in fight‑or‑flight, the sooner you can start changing the story.

If you’ve been told your symptoms are “just age” or “just stress”… keep reading.

Medicine can support you......
but it can’t restore you.

After years in pharmacy, I’ve watched so many women 40+ rely on medication to “fix” what years of stress, depletion, and constant responsibility have quietly been creating.

DON'T WAIT FOR A DIAGNOSIS

A blood pressure reading over 129/84 is a warning to take action . A chance to make changes before you reach 140/90 and the conversation shifts to medication.

As a health coach, I work beyond the prescription to help you take back control.

You can actively influence your blood pressure right now by focusing on what’s within your control... here's some ideas !

1. Move More: Are you getting regular physical activity each day ? What could you add in .. strength ? Cardio? Mobility ? Walking ?

2.Eat Smart: Less salt , more whole foods on your plate.

3.Manage Stress: if your body's stuck in Fight of flight, your BP will suffer.

4. Sleep: Quality sleep is fundamental to health, how can you improve yours?

5 . Fuel Consciously: Every choice you make is a vote for your health or against it ! Really think about that !

This isn’t about blame. It’s about empowerment.

You don’t have to wait for a diagnosis to demand more from your health.

CUT THE SALT! SLASH YOUR BP

Too much salt raises your blood pressure and increases your risk of a heart attack or stroke. The target is less than 6g a day ( about one level teaspoon.)

Most of us eat nearly double that without even realising it. It's not just the salt you add at the table that’s the problem. Up to 75% of the salt we eat is already hiding in processed and packaged food.

The power to change that is in your hands.

TIPS TO GET YOU STARTED

1. Cook from scratch more often. Most salt comes from processed food, not your kitchen. The more you cook at home, the more control you have.

2.Taste before you add salt. Make it a rule, you’ll often find it doesn’t need it.

3.Use acid / herbs / spices to add flavour . A squeeze of lemon or a splash of vinegar activates your taste buds the same way salt does

4.Look at food labels ... Do you know how much salt it actually in a load of bread? You may be surprised !

Hypertension is the silent killer.
It doesn’t warn you, there are rarely symptoms.
And too many of us only find out when it’s already caused long‑lasting damage (think heart attack, stroke, dementia).

The latest reports on UK health should stop us in our tracks.

Healthy life expectancy has fallen by 2 years.
Most people now spend 18–22 years of their life in poor health.
And far too many become unwell before pension age.

We’re living longer, but we’re living sicker.

And yet… we’re spending more than ever on supplements, wellness hacks, powders, and quick fixes.

If any of that was truly working, the data wouldn’t look like this.

This is why I work Beyond the Prescription with clients.
Because the answer isn’t always more medication — that’s only one part of the picture.

It’s also about addressing the root causes:

The part no one teaches you

Most people think “beyond the prescription” means adding supplements or trying a new routine.
But it’s deeper than that.

It’s the part of your health no medication can reach,
✅your habits, movement, nutrition, sleep, rest,
✅your stress response,
✅your breath,
✅your boundaries,
✅the stories you keep telling yourself about your health

It’s the part missed in 10‑minute appointments.
The part that doesn’t show up on blood tests.
The part shaping how you feel every single day.

Medication can treat symptoms… but what about the root cause?
Medication has its place.
But only you can create true health.

Beyond the prescription is where you learn to:
