Public service announcement, please share far and wide, with young and old. When searching a trusted website to share an informational article, this pop up came up. Naively I thought the website owner had added a layer of security her end to stop bots. So I followed the instructions but still couldn't access the website. Asked my IT savvy husband who immediately recognised this as a brand new scam, designed to gain access to our computers and then anything and everything.

I have now spent the past 4 hours locking down bank accounts, changing passwords and will have to reset my laptop before I can turn the WiFi on again on it. If you, like me, get caught....number 1 step is switch off the WiFi to the computer in question.

Thoroughly passed off and feeling rather stupid 😡😡😠
