⚡️ DON’T BE AFRAID OF AN AED ⚡️

One of the biggest myths I hear is:

❌ “I wouldn’t know how to use a defibrillator.”

The truth is, you don’t need to be a healthcare professional.

✅ Open the AED.
✅ Press the ON button.
✅ Listen to the instructions.

The AED will talk you through every step.

It will tell you:
• Where to place the pads.
• When to stand clear.
• If a shock is needed.
• When to continue CPR.

In fact, an AED will NOT deliver a shock unless it detects a shockable heart rhythm, so you cannot accidentally shock someone who doesn’t need it.

When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, every minute matters. Early CPR and early defibrillation can dramatically increase the chances of survival.

💚 Remember:
If you’re brave enough to press the ON button, the AED will do the rest.

You don’t need confidence.
You don’t need qualifications.
You just need to act.

Because doing something is always better than doing nothing.

Do you know where your nearest AED is?

🚨 CPR MYTH BUSTER 🚨

Would you know how hard and how fast to push?

✅ Compression Depth:
Push 5–6 cm deep – that’s about the width of the SHORT side of a standard bank card.

✅ Compression Rate:
Aim for 100–120 compressions per minute.

🎵 A simple way to keep the correct rhythm:
Think of “Stayin’ Alive” by the Bee Gees.

“Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive…”

Every second counts when someone’s heart stops.

💚 Push hard.
💚 Push fast.
💚 Don’t stop until help arrives or an AED tells you what to do.

Of course there is more to learn - Have you ever had CPR training?

☀️ Forest Training Medical hopes you are all enjoying this wonderful weather! ☀️

We’ve had several people who have attended our First Aid Courses contact us today to say how useful their burns training has been during the recent hot weather and BBQ season and how useful the reminder posts are!🔥

As part of our courses, we teach how to recognise and manage burns correctly.

🖐️ Did you know?
A patient’s own hand (including fingers) is roughly equal to 1% of their body surface area. This is often used to help estimate the size of a burn.

⚠️ You should seek medical advice if a burn is:
• Larger than 5% of the body
• Blistering
• Peeling
• Deep in appearance
• On the face, hands, feet or ge****ls
• Caused by chemicals or electricity

Or if you are worried about it or in pain

💧 First Aid for Burns
• Cool the burn under cool/tepid running water for 20 minutes
• Remove jewellery or tight clothing if safe to do so
• Do NOT apply butter, creams or ice
• Cover loosely with cling film or a sterile dressing once cooled

📞 Seek help appropriately:
• Contact NHS 111 for medical advice and guidance
• Attend Accident and Emergency for more serious burns
• Call 999 immediately for severe burns, breathing difficulties, electrical burns, or if the patient is seriously unwell

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly ☀️

☀️💧 BANK HOLIDAY HYDRATION REMINDER 💧☀️

The team at Forest Medical Training thought we would share a little reminder about keeping hydrated during this warm bank holiday weekend!

Ideally, your main fluid intake should be water before other drinks. Staying hydrated helps your body regulate temperature, maintain energy levels and reduce the risk of heat exhaustion.

Did you know? 👇
☕ Tea and coffee can contribute to dehydration if consumed in large amounts
🍺 Alcohol can also dehydrate you — especially in warmer weather

We definitely don’t mean you have to give them up completely… but it is important to increase your water intake and keep yourself hydrated throughout the day ☀️💦

Simple signs you may need more fluids include:
🔹 Headaches
🔹 Dizziness
🔹 Feeling tired
🔹 Dry mouth
🔹 Dark coloured urine

There are so many useful health and first aid tips you can learn for both the workplace and everyday life by completing a first aid course with us!

Stay safe, enjoy the sunshine and look after yourselves 🌿

☀️ HEAT STROKE AWARENESS ☀️

With such beautiful weather coming this Bank Holiday weekend, we wanted to share some important advice from our First Aid Courses about recognising the signs of heat stroke and heat exhaustion. 🌡️

Please look out for:

🚨 High body temperature
🚨 Hot, red or dry skin
🚨 Dizziness or confusion
🚨 Severe headache
🚨 Nausea or vomiting
🚨 Rapid breathing or pulse
🚨 Fainting or collapse

💧 Stay hydrated
🧢 Keep out of direct sun where possible
🌳 Take regular breaks in the shade
👶 Keep a close eye on children and elderly relatives

Heat stroke can become a medical emergency very quickly, so knowing the signs could help save a life.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine responsibly ☀️
