Being aromatherapist I really love working seasonally and tomorrow I am hosting the solstice therapist share.

Summer solstice is also known as Litha and is one of the festivals I celebrate.

I made a beautiful Litha oil today that was 200mls of sweet almond carrier oil and then 15 drops each of the following essential oils:

Palo Santo
Frankincense
Petitgrain
Grapefruit

I'm really hoping tomorrow's workshop attendees enjoy it 🤍✨️

This Sunday marks the Summer Solstice, the longest day of the year, has inspired folklore and celebration across cultures for thousands of years.

Traditionally seen as a moment when the sun reaches its greatest power, the solstice was often associated with fertility, abundance, protection, and the turning of the seasons.

In European folklore, bonfires were lit on hilltops to strengthen the sun and ward off evil spirits, while people danced, sang, and gathered medicinal herbs believed to hold special power on this nigh

If you feel drawn to seasonal energies try putting palo santo, bergamot and neroli in the diffuser and journal to the following prompts:

💛 What is flourishing?
🤍 What deserves celebration?
🧡What feels fully alive?
🤎 What needs tending to sustain it through the coming season?

Just a quick peek into me working on my most demanding client (my own 5 year old 🤣).

As its Aromatherapy awareness week I thought I would share with you my current essential oil obsession.

I do go through phases of absolutely adoring and oil and using it for myself all the time and at present it is Palo Santo that I cannot get enough of.

I first came across palo santo as an incense bark for smudging and clearing energies. The bark from the Palo Santo tree is traditionally burned in South America for the purpose of clearing negative energies from living spaces. The oil can be used in prayer, energy work, etc, where it is symbolic of rebirth, its name when translated is “holy wood” showing its significance within traditional and spiritual practices.

Palo Santo essential oil, extracted from the wood, holds similar cultural importance. It’s applied topically for its calming and grounding effects. Its sweet, woody scent is known to promote relaxation and mental clarity.

Its sweet, woody aroma offers a sense of tranquility and relaxation. Daily life in many South American communities incorporates Palo Santo. It is used to purify homes and create a sense of calm and tranquility. People often burn the wood to ward off mosquitoes and other insects. There have been some practitioners who claim it is beneficial for coughs and other respiratory conditions.

Chemically Palo Santo has a few interesting key components, β-caryophyllene is a sesquiterpene found within it that is also in oils like copbaiba balsam and black pepper and is associated with an anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect. There have been studies on how this component works on certain nerve pathways too.

Limonene, abundant in Palo Santo, is what gives it the fruity fresh edge to its aroma. Monoterpenes are mood lifting and also stimulating to many of the bodies systems. Linalool is also in the oil and there have been countless studies proving the calming effect of the component on the central nervous system perhaps why it so revered spiritually.

Palo santo is having a moment trend wise so I really recommend purchasing from a reputable supplier. I have attached photos of mine in this post.

It's Aromatherapy awareness week from 8th-14th June so I thought I would start this week by sharing what exactly clinical aromatherapy is.

It is so much more than simply enjoying beautiful scents (although I most definitely enjoy them!)

As a qualified clinical aromatherapist, I create personalised blends and treatments based on your individual needs, health & medical history, lifestyle, and wellbeing goals.

Clinical aromatherapy combines professional knowledge with the therapeutic properties of essential oils, much of these are based on the chemical constituents that are found in the oils themselves.

There is a very large focus on chemistry within clinical aromatherapy and this can be daunting when first getting your head around it but I've been working this way for over a decade now.

It is an effective, safe and holistic approach that supports both emotional and physical wellbeing, making every treatment as unique as the person receiving it.

It's been a busy few days with work and seeing lots of my lovely regular clients this week.

I've made sure to get some treatments in for me too, it's important to keep on top of those niggles and stress cycles before they beome too much to handle and start to impact daily life and what you want to do.

I thought I would share my list of fantastic practitioners that I see regularly(ish) - because I'm human too and life gets busy!

Jo for reflexology that keeps me balanced each month 👣

Chloe for getting on top of my knotty shoulders (and ribs this week!) 💆‍♀️

Gemma .holistichealing for the most wonderful soul reiki sessions and meditations ✨️

Emily for knock out aromatherapy massage & herbal workshops 🌿

Along with regular excercise, meditation, journalling and a reasonable diet and water intake this keeps me at the top of my game so I am ready to help all my own clients and students 🤍

It's wonderful to be away spending precious time together but it's also wonderful to come back and see how the garden has flourished during that time.

Peas, corn and nasturtiums are abundant and the foxgloves, californian poppies and petunias have bloomed too 🤍

Can you even be an aromatherapist if you don't love to garden??

Love this testimonial not just because it's positive but because there are so many ways to use essential oils and I love inspiring people 🤍

Most people think of aromatherapy as smelly massage and don't get me wrong I ADORE doing treatments!

There are also pocket nasal inhalers for allergies right through to anxiety. You can create decadent destressing bath oils or rollerballs for headaches and so much more.....

I do 1-2-1 mentoring, workshops and talks so if it something you would like to know more about please get in touch 📧

Is there anything more refreshing than a paddle in the sea? 🌊

Years ago people were sent to coastal towns to recover from illnesses and operations.

Coastal environments naturally lower cortisol levels. The sound of waves activates the parasympathetic nervous system (the "rest and digest" mode). I talk about this loads in my Saturday club lectures.

Sea air is supercharged with negative ions, which are believed to increase oxygen absorption, stabilize mood, and boost serotonin levels and of course a freezing dip like I braved today stimulates dopamine and endorphin production, which can significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression.

We have been so blessed with the weather in Norfolk this week so we have been able to really enjoy the beaches.

Beautiful afternoon out seeing all the wonderful gardens and water features. An absolute must if your in this area of Norfolk. Plenty of shady walks on a hot day too.

3 generations went and all had a great time and there was a solid offering of GF options for Violet in the cafe. Cakes were delicious but we are them before thinking about the gram 🤣
