What a stunning Sunrise Stillness . The Universe delivered sunshine, gentle lapping waves , the wind dropped to a gentle breeze to provide a tranquil setting in which we gathered to honour our Sacred Vessels .
Thank you to each of you who gifted yourself the time and space to invite in a little stillness .

And thank you Joanne Clarke Attwood for the photographs 🥰

Sunrise Stillness
Saturday 5th September,2026
Seaton Carew beach, down the steps from the Norton Hotel

7.10 for a 7.15(ish) start

In our fast paced modern lives every second of every day is usually full !
But by making time to take some time to invite moments of stillness into our lives we allow ourselves a chance to invite in peace, calm and reduce stress .
Stillness allows us to reconnect with our inner wisdom, our intuition, our inner voice . It anchors us in the present moment.
You will need a mat or a chair on which to lie or sit, a blanket, a pillow, warm clothing and a drink .
No experience is required.
Crystals are provided to use during the meditation .
All that is asked is you come with an open heart and an open mind☀️☀️
This is a free event .

Let’s not forget… this is the Year of the Fire Horse.

I needed this reminder myself today.

This year has pulled me in directions I never expected. Plans have changed, new ideas have found me, and more than once I’ve had to trust where I was being led before I could understand why.

Maybe that is why so many of us have felt the shift so deeply.

The Fire Horse carries the energy of movement, courage, freedom, and finally breaking away from what has kept us standing still.

She does not spend her life circling the same closed gate. She remembers the open field waiting beyond it—and when the moment comes, she runs.

Not away from her life.

Toward the life that has been calling her.

And now that we’ve reached September, I’m curious…

Has this year changed you in ways you never expected?

When the Dragonflies Remember

Long ago,
when the rivers still spoke freely
and the stars seemed close enough
to touch with an open hand,
our people walked beside the water
and listened to the songs of the land.

There was a young woman
who waited every evening
at the edge of the river.

She had lost someone she loved,
and no words from the village elders
could quiet the emptiness in her heart.

One evening,
as the sun disappeared behind the hills,
a dragonfly settled upon her hand.

Its wings caught the last light of day
blue, violet, and gold,
like a tiny sky
folded into four fragile wings.

She whispered,

“Are you carrying a message
from the ones who have gone?”

The dragonfly lifted into the air
and circled her three times.

Then it flew toward the river.

She followed.

At the water's edge,
she heard the voice of the wind
moving through the reeds:

What we love does not leave us.
It changes its shape.
It becomes the river,
the feather,
the song,
the light upon your face.

She closed her eyes
and for the first time in many moons,
she did not ask the spirits
to bring the past back.

She simply thanked them
for having loved her once.

From that night forward,
whenever dragonflies appeared
above the quiet waters,
our people would stop and listen.

For they believed
the little wings carried memories
between this world and the next

not to remind us of sorrow,
but to teach us
that every life is part of a greater circle.

So when a dragonfly crosses your path,
do not chase it.

Stand still.

Let the wind touch your face.
Let the river speak.

Perhaps someone you have loved
is reminding you gently:

Keep walking.
Keep loving.
Keep your heart open to the light.

For the dragonfly knows
what the elders have always known

even the briefest life
can leave a beautiful trail
across the sky.

My response to a discussion about crystal bowls and gongs being too loud. So called sound healing instruments like crystal bowls are actually louder than the legal limit in the UK, where they have such laws to protect hearing.

I was the first person to sell singing bowls on the internet and have been a leader in this field for over 25 years. I’ve seen this sound healing movement grow from the beginning and almost nothing has changed in all this time. It’s the same few catchphrases, the same weak ideas, the same bad experiences, the same flash in the pan attempts at get rich schemes. Now it’s reached a point of stupidity where people deafen others, or give them such a lame experience that they never come back. Then you wonder why your wellness practice isn’t thriving.

This is why I’ve always warned people not to use crystal bowls at all, frankly. They are a tool for making computer chips, not a “sound healing instrument.” The piercing tone of a crystal bowl is in no way healing. They just got conflated with real singing bowls by people looking to make money selling them. Now everyone is clanging gongs as well. Gongs were invented to send an alarm over long distances. Small hand gongs were traditionally used outside and the purpose was to wake people up in the morning - that’s the exact opposite of relaxation. So why do people think they should take an oversized version indoors and bang them next to people’s ears? It makes no sense what you are doing. It’s like bringing a church bell inside and saying, “hey sit inside this for the healing effects.” How come no one is doing that yet? Because it sounds silly? Hnmm…

This all started with the antique singing bowls and in my opinion that’s where it ends. Antique singing bowls genuinely have a soothing effect due to the soft vibration. They are never too loud and can’t hurt you unless you drop one on your foot. “The proof of the pudding is in the eating,” as the old expression goes. And only antique singing bowls have the real mojo. It’s unfortunate to me that probably a few million people have by now experienced some sort of alternative sound instrument but in almost all cases it’s been the cheap imitations and not the real thing. I really feel sorry for everyone who has only experienced a crystal bowl, cheap new singing bowls, gongs or those novelty chimes and noisemakers you all now call sound healing tools. It’s all very juvenile and silly from my vantage point. Just listen to some of my recordings. Even a recording highlights the difference. If you want a violin, you don’t play a police siren. If you want a great singing bowl sound, you have to play a great singing bowl.
