The Big Conversation on Care
Between now and next April, The Big Conversation on Care gives people the opportunity to say what they want in and expect from a future National Care Service.

There are some tough questions on who it should support, what families should reasonably be expected to do, and how the country should pay for care in a fair and sustainable way.

Measles update

Parents and carers are urged to check their children are up to date with their measles, mumps and rubella (MMR) vaccinations to protect them from measles.

Pregnant mums and people with weakened immune systems are also urged to make sure they've had the two doses of MMR needed for full protection against measles.
The call follows recent new cases of the disease in Kent and Medway.

Not sure if you need to catch up? Just contact you GP surgery. Parents and carers should also contact their GP if you can't find your child's Red Book vaccine record. Children can also catch up at a Community Clinic.

Get ready for the bank holiday weekend

The NHS is encouraging patients to think ahead and choose services wisely over the bank holiday weekend.

The long weekend is a busy time for NHS services and it’s important to choose the right service if you are ill or injured.
Make sure you plan ahead and order any repeat prescriptions early, as GP practices and some pharmacies will be closed on Monday, 31 August.

Get advice from your pharmacist at the first sign of feeling ill – don’t wait for it to get more serious. Use our map to view bank holiday pharmacy opening times.

NHS bowel cancer screening kits are offered to everyone aged between 50 and 74.

They can help find cancer early, before you even have any symptoms. And the earlier cancer is found, the easier it can be to treat.

When your kit arrives, put it by the loo. Don’t put it off.

Let someone else know they should send their kit back – especially as April is Bowel Cancer Awareness month.
