Anxiety and anxiety related issues are the most common reasons that people come for treatment and it is an area in which Hypnotherapy is very effective.
Anxiety is caused by overthinking and a build up of negative thoughts and worries. Every negative thought that we have is accumulated causing our stress to rise, which triggers the fight, flight or freeze response, as our mind thinks we are in danger. As our stress rises we lose intellectual control. There is a method of lowering our stress levels and it is known as REM sleep, Rapid Eye Movement.
REM is restricted to about 20% of our sleep patterns. If we try to overdo that because there is too much for the brain to process, then the mind will wake us up in the night.
This can lead into a vicious circle. The more stress we have stored, the more time we will spend in the primitive part of our brain trying to process the stress and the more we will be encouraged to be negative.
Hypnosis is effective in reducing stress levels and the sessions teach you skills and tools to lower stress levels, to enable you to regain control. Clients also often report improvements in their sleep and confidence.
