Hydration is one of three essentials we should focus on. Especially important in this warmer weather 😎

Staying hydrated affects almost every major system in your body, from your brain, cardiovascular system as well as muscles and joints.

‼️ Even mild dehydration can change how you feel physically and mentally. Dehydration can quickly affect mood, focus and memory, headaches and dizziness and energy levels.

A few practical ways to stay hydrated are:

• Drink consistently during the day instead of large amounts at once.
• Increase fluids in hot weather or during exercise.
• Foods like watermelon, cucumber, oranges, soups, and yogurt also contribute to hydration.
• Electrolytes can help after heavy sweating, illness, or endurance exercise.

There’s no single “perfect” amount of water for everyone. However, the NHS Eatwell Guide recommends that most people aim for 6 to 8 cups or glasses of fluid per day.

Next time you’re out and about in a green space tune into bird song. It is so therapeutic and calming.

By listening we are paying attention and focusing, so being mindful. I use the Merlin Bird ID app (pictured right) which identifies which birds are singing 🐦 🎵.

May Reflections

For me May involved a lot of walking - more than doubling my miles each week.
Spending a lot of time in nature, appreciating what is around me. Being mindful of flowers, birdsong, sunsets and sunrises.

Don’t forget to plug yourself in! 🪫
Time to rest and recharge is not just important but essential!

In today’s 24/7 world our nervous system is on constant alert. Much more than it needs to be, to keep us safe. This might show up as feeling anxious, on alert or overwhelmed all the time!!

Time to rest and recharge is essential.
…….and that’s what I did over the recent bank holiday. No packed schedule. Just time to be!

🌅 Spending lots of time outside, enjoying green spaces, sunrises and sunsets.
🥾 Gentle walks.
❤️ Time with good friends.
🌼 Simply sitting in the garden - no phone!!
Just enjoying the space around us, noticing the flowers, bird song, clouds in sky and recharging!!!

Do more activities that make you forget your phone and time runs away with you. That’s when you are recharging 🔋
