I used to be a running coach.
Today I got a run induced migraine after 5km.
I haven't run more than 2km for over 7 years and my only goal was to not stop.
When I saw my time, there were some mixed feelings.
Gosh I'm so slow.
I used to run so much faster.
I feel disappointed.
That was so hard.
I'm so unfit.
That was alright actually.
I'm booking for next weekend too.
Wow my head hurts.
I know that past me has multiple medals and PBs from running, but I'm not here for that anymore.
I'm not competing against a past version of myself, I'm looking after the current version of me.
And I'm quite enjoying trying old and new exercises to get my body moving.
The ultimate goal isn't to chase a PB (although I am competitive, so I'm sure I'll be celebrating any I get!)
The goal is now to move my body in ways that support my health and contribute to my overall wellbeing.
After a short hiatus, I'm enjoying exercise again.
And I am also looking forward to a country walk and a pint of Guinness later today.
Thank you to my hype man Rob Gaunt for the pics and the encouragement and to my mum Sally Sharpley for making me join her all those years ago and teaching me cadence, pacing, and breathing, all of which kept me going today ❤️
