We experience a lot more patients failing to attend appointments when the weather is hot, there were 12 missed yesterday.

If you are not going to attend please cancel so that someone else has the opportunity to use the appointment.

It’s so easy to cancel, call us on 2396687 and use the cancel appointment option.

Hope you’re all well..
Here’s the top 5 tips on staying safe in the hot weather:-
- keep hydrated, drink water regularly and avoid excessive alcohol
- keep your home cool by closing blinds and curtains and open windows overnight or early morning when the temperature is lower.
- avoid the midday heat and try and stay indoors or in the shade between 11am and 4pm
- please check on vulnerable neighbours and ask them if they are drinking enough or need help with their shopping
- know the warning signs of heat illness: confusion, difficulty breathing, loss of consciousness, body temp of over 50 and hot, dry skin. Seek urgent help if you or someone develops these symptoms.

Please note that the industrial action within the NHS by resident doctors has commenced this morning and will end at 7am on Friday 19th June.

Please continue to attend appointments unless you have been contacted and advised that yours has been postponed.

All NHS services are experiencing extremely high demand at the minute, including ourselves so please bear in mind that you can use www.nhs.uk for self care advice and use the online symptom checker on 111.nhs.uk.

New mental health wellbeing café

Just a reminder that as it’s bank holiday Monday next week we will be closed from 6.30pm on Friday until 8am on Tuesday 26th of May.
Minor injuries, 111 and 999 are all operating as normal during this time.

Sheffield Mind are running some free 6 week, anger management courses.
They offer men’s and women’s only courses, mainly from their building at 110 Sharrow Lane, S11 8AL, however, they do offer online courses for those unable to attend.

As we mentioned previously we are focusing on childhood vaccinations to ensure that the children of the valley are safe.

Yesterday we put in an extra clinic but sadly 7 patients failed to attend without giving any notice, that’s 7 wasted appointments that could have been used by others, 1 hour and 45 minutes of wasted nurse time and 7 vulnerable children.

PLEASE, if you accept an appointment have the decency to cancel so that others can use it and PLEASE consider making vaccinating your children a priority.
