‘…using the breath to stay connected…’
What if your emotions are not something to fight or suppress… but quiet signals inviting you to listen more deeply to yourself? So often we rush past what we feel, trying to stay productive, positive or in control. Yet, emotions carry wisdom when we give them space to be noticed with gentleness and curiosity.
So let’s give them some space today, we are going to start by finding a comfortable position, you might want to close the eyes or soften the gaze.
Allowing the body to settle into stillness, bringing the attention to the breath. The natural rhythm moving through, steady and present.
How are you feeling in this moment? Not what you think you’re feeling, but what is actually here.
You might gently name it to yourself, calm, restless, heavy, light, anxious, content… whatever arises.
Can you notice where this emotion rests in the body? The chest, the stomach, the shoulders?
See if you can stay with the sensation, without getting caught up in a story around it. Just observing it as a feeling, as a movement of energy.
Using the breath to stay connected, each inhale bringing awareness, each exhale creating more space.
You are not your emotions, you are the one noticing them, the one allowing them.
If the mind drifts, gently returning to the breath, to this moment.
What are you feeling right now… and can you allow it to be there?
