This Know Your Numbers Week, we're raising awareness of the importance of understanding your blood pressure and what those numbers could mean for your health.

High BP can increase the risk of serious conditions including heart attacks, stroke, kidney disease and vascular dementia.

So while knowing your numbers is important, good healthcare is about more than just what it says on the screen.

Patients should feel heard when they raise concerns about their health. Concerning blood pressure readings, symptoms or changes in a patient's condition should be appropriately assessed and acted upon.

At Medical Solicitors, we know that when concerns are missed, dismissed or not properly investigated, the consequences can sometimes have serious consequences.

So this week is a reminder to take a moment to check your blood pressure - and remember that your health concerns deserve to be heard.

You can find out more about Know Your Numbers week over on the Blood Pressure UK website https://www.bloodpressureuk.org/know-your-numbers/why-is-know-your-numbers-needed/

Women’s health matters. Your voice matters. You deserve to be heard.
We’ve helped women secure settlements following gynaecological negligence, including when symptoms were dismissed, diagnoses were delayed, or care fell below the standard expected.
If you feel you weren’t listened to, you’re not alone - and you have the right to ask questions, seek answers and be heard.

September is gynaecological cancer awareness month 💜

Each year, over 22,000 women are diagnosed with one of the five gynaecological cancers: cervical, ovarian, womb, vaginal, and vulval.

🩸All of the five gynae cancers have their own individual symptoms, but abnormal bleeding is one of the main red flag symptoms for them all.
So ladies, please don’t delay seeking medical advice if you’re bleeding between periods, your periods are heavier than normal, or you’re bleeding after the menopause. It could be nothing to worry about so it’s always better to get it checked and put your mind at rest.

As with any cancer, recognising gynaecological cancer symptoms can mean an earlier diagnosis and a better outcome.
We continue to work with women and families affected by delayed diagnosis or substandard treatment of gynae cancers and see the devastating impact it has.

If you are one of these people, you may be looking for answers, especially if your experience allowed the cancer to spread or took away the chance of a cure. You may also want to try and prevent mistakes happening to other cancer patients in the future.

More information about why people choose to make a cancer compensation claim can be found on our website here https://www.medical-solicitors.com/medical-negligence/cancer-claims/

If you’re unhappy with medical treatment or care you’ve received, you are entitled to make a complaint against the NHS or private healthcare provider within 12 months of the incident.

A complaint can help you get an explanation, an apology or identify whether things went wrong.
For , here's what information you should include in any official complaint.

When drafting your complaint, focus on writing down the details in your own words rather than worrying about using the correct medical terminology.

Before you submit your complaint, one of our specialist solicitors can review it and suggest any additional questions you may have missed, while providing more information about guidelines and policies from the care provider.

Have a topic you'd like us to cover in a future ? Let us know in the comments.

To start the week, we’re shining a spotlight on one of our trainee medical negligence lawyers, Natasha, and some of the compensation settlements she has achieved during the first half of 2026.

As a trainee legal executive, Tash, who is based at our Sheffield office, has already demonstrated the skill, commitment and determination it takes to achieve great results for clients.

Her cases span a broad range of circumstances, from delayed cancer diagnoses to cases involving failures in care, and what is believed the be the highest recorded damages for delayed diagnosis of coeliac disease.

🔹 £85,000 for a delayed kidney cancer diagnosis which metastasised to the liver, lungs and lymph nodes
🔹 £70,000 following 9-year delay to diagnosis of coeliac disease
🔹 £32,000 for estate of elderly lady who died after numerous falls in a care home
🔹 £11,250 for delayed diagnosis of scaphoid fracture

She’s certainly one to watch — and we can’t wait to see what she achieves next.

You can read more real-life examples of cases our medical negligence team have settled so far this year over on our website.
