⚽ Using football to help young people say no to to***co in Pakistan

These sessions built young people's confidence to make healthier choices — on and off the pitch. As the world comes together for football, young people in Karachi are already showing how the game can inspire healthier choices.

Through a partnership with Football Club, as part of the project (with ELF involved through Lungs Europe), 169 young people aged 13–16 took part in football-based sessions designed to build real-life refusal skills.

🌬️ Supporting action on and clean air in Tunisia

ELF took part in the 13th International Primary Care Respiratory Group World Conference and the first North African Interdisciplinary Forum in Tunis.

ELF Director Pippa Powell introduced “Your Lungs at Work”, a tool that can help people understand how their workplace might be affecting their breathing or lung health, and how risks can be reduced: https://yourlungsatwork.europeanlung.org/en

ELF also joined partners as this EU project nears completion to discuss strengthening key messages on reducing air pollution and to***co exposure and scaling up interventions to engage young people in preventing smoking uptake in disadvantaged populations.

By taking part in these meetings, ELF helps connect practical tools, prevention and patient‑focused education with real-world care.

🌍 ELF represented at global discussions on lung health and clean air

Former ELF Chair, Kjeld Hansen, attended the 79th World Health Assembly ( ) in Geneva, bringing patient perspectives into global discussions on lung health and clean air🤝

Discussions focused on delays in diagnosing lung cancer and access to inhaled medicines for asthma and COPD. These remain key challenges for many people living with lung conditions.

Clean air was also a major topic, including indoor air quality and its impact on health in homes, schools and workplaces.

By taking part in these discussions, patient perspectives help ensure decisions on care, prevention and public health reflect real experiences.

In a world full of health claims, how do you know what to trust?

Professor John Hurst explains why learning to spot the difference between reliable and unreliable evidence is a skill that everyone needs.

He encourages people to ask questions about what they read, check where information comes from and stay curious without becoming cynical.

That is why ELF and European Respiratory Society are urging European leaders to keep science open and trustworthy, and ensure public information is based on credible evidence.
