Leonidas is 70 years old and lives in Athens. He took part in lung cancer screening after discussing his age and smoking history with healthcare professionals.

When he was told that an abnormal area in his lungs needed further testing, he was shocked and needed time to process the news.

Looking back, he feels reassured by his decision to take part in lung cancer screening and encourages others who are eligible to find out more about their lung health.

💬 Patient organisations: showcase your impact in lung health

Your work makes a real difference every day, through advocacy, services, education, campaigns and collaboration with healthcare professionals and researchers.

Vaccines are one of the most important medical advances in recent years. Ioannis Vogiatzis explains that vaccines helped reduce serious COVID-19 infections, kept people out of hospital and saved lives.

Cutting funding for research programmes, like those that produced the vaccines, leaves us less prepared for future outbreaks. That is why ELF and European Respiratory Society are urging European leaders to keep supporting scientific research, making sure it is well funded and independent.
