The Sober Selfie Project 2026 🏆

We were blown away by the entries this year.

Every photograph tells a story of courage, growth, resilience, hope and change. Choosing a winner wasn’t easy, but one image captured the spirit of the project so beautifully that it stood out from the crowd.

Congratulations to our winner, and thank you to every single person who took part.

These faces represent what sobriety can make possible. ❤️

Most of us aren't just recovering from alcohol. We're recovering from years of abandoning ourselves.

That's what surprised me most about writing my memoir.

What started as a book about alcohol became a book about identity, self-trust, people pleasing, relationships, grief, ambition and the long journey back to myself.

If you'd like to follow the journey, I'd love you to join me over at lucyrocca.com

A little appreciation post for anyone who remembers how relentless that voice could be.

Not because it has disappeared completely.

But because it no longer gets the final say.

That's a remarkable thing.

We're giving away a signed copy of One in a Million by Della Galton - a warm, uplifting story about second chances, finding yourself, and discovering that life can still surprise you.

Della recently joined me on the podcast and was an absolute delight. If you haven't listened yet, I highly recommend it.

This photo was taken about six months after Soberistas launched in November 2012. Lily had just turned one.

At that point, I still had absolutely no idea what Soberistas would eventually become, or how many lives it would go on to touch.

The last few months behind the scenes have honestly been some of the hardest we’ve ever faced. Financially, things are still very tight and there have been moments where the pressure of trying to hold everything together has felt enormous.

For those who didn’t know, we had been exploring a formal partnership with SHE RECOVERS. But after listening carefully to feedback from the Soberistas community, we realised aspects of the original plan didn’t feel right to many members. So we stepped back, listened properly, and reshaped things into something much lighter-touch that protects the identity and independence of Soberistas.

We are also working hard behind the scenes on improving the site, the member journey and the long-term sustainability of the organisation moving forward.

But more than anything, what has become so clear to me throughout all of this is that Soberistas is not just a website.

People have fought incredibly hard to keep this community alive. In a financial climate that is difficult for almost everyone right now, members have continued to donate money, renew memberships, volunteer their time, support one another and remind me - over and over again - why this space matters.

And I will never stop being grateful for that.

Things are still fragile in some ways. But for the first time in a long while, I genuinely feel like we are beginning to move in the right direction again.

Thank you for continuing to believe in Soberistas ❤️

This weekend in Women’s Sober Circle:

The Exhausted Woman’s Guide to Sobriety
The hidden cost of being the capable one.

For the woman who is always the strong one.
The reliable one.
The one who absorbs, manages and smooths.

We don’t talk enough about what that identity costs.

How resentment builds quietly.
How exhaustion becomes normal.
How alcohol becomes the pressure valve at the end of the day.

If you’ve ever thought,
“I’m not weak. I’m just tired.”

This circle is for you.

Women’s Sober Circle is a separate, optional small-group live space for those who would like more structured, interactive support alongside the Soberistas platform.

You can join by:

• Becoming an annual Women’s Sober Circle member (£420), or
• Purchasing a two-session bundle (£40)

Welcome to all our recent followers. If you've just happened upon Soberistas and are after a bit of background, here's what you need to know... I realised there was a big gap in the help on offer to women who drank habitually and to excess, back in 2011 when I had my big wake up call - not rock bottom, but an awakening. A big bloody eye-opener, when I finally saw what was going on in my relationship with booze. I quit drinking, white-knuckled my way through the first year or so, and then launched Soberistas - a safe haven for anyone with a desire to kick the booze and start living their best life. Since then we have grown and grown, and Soberistas is now home to 1000s of people all over the world who support each other in their efforts to stay AF. If you ever have any questions about Soberistas and how we can best help you, please send me a DM or email on [email protected] - wishing you all a very happy, sAFe and healthful 2026 🧡 Lucy Rocca xx

This isn’t about labelling yourself.
And it isn’t about shame.

Drinking isn’t who you are - it’s where you are.

If you’re ready to stop circling the same thoughts and start making real change, this is your invitation.

Join Soberistas.
Show up honestly.
Do the work - with support, structure, and people who understand.

You don’t have to do this alone, and you don’t have to wait until things get worse.

Start where you are.
We’ll meet you there.

If you’re at the beginning and wondering whether this will ever feel normal - this is what happens over time.

Not drinking stops being something you’re doing
and becomes something you are.

No daily battle.
No white-knuckling.
Just a quieter sense of alignment with yourself.

If you’re not there yet, that’s okay.
Everyone who feels this way once stood where you’re standing now.

We’re here for the long haul. 🤍
