Activists and supporters braved the rain throughout today, protesting US backed inteference in our reproductive rights!

March 4 Life hosted a "Rethinking Abortion Conference" on Abbeydale Road, with the express aim of teaching attendees how to persuade someone considering an abortion not to have it.

We were there to say NO; because we believe in
- Informed choices
- Accurate information
- Reproductive rights
- Bodily autonomy

March for Life are very open that their aim is to end all abortions. Since Roe v Wade was overturned in the US, anti choice groups are looking to expand their influence; and anti choice activity here in the UK is on the rise.

We say no! And from the support our activists received today, we know that you do too. Everywhere they gather to restrict our rights, there we will be.

This Saturday, conservative Christian group March for Life are having a ‘Rethink Abortion Training Day’ in Sheffield. March for Life is an anti-abortion group originating in the US, and who were involved in overturning the Roe v Wade case.

Join Sheffield Right to Choose to demand that they leave our bodies alone!

Despite the far-right's tokenistic demand to 'protect women and girls', in reality, control over women's bodies (among other bodies) has always been a core tenet of fascism. The fight for bodily autonomy and control over our own reproductive systems _is_ the fight against fascism.

With out-dated debates around abortion rising into the mainstream; with Farage threatening to strip back the rights of women to access abortion should Reform come into power; with this already happening in the US - the ability to choose for ourselves what we do with our bodies is firmly under threat.

🪧 Join the Sheffield Right to Choose campaign's counter protest this Saturday, 6th June, 10am-4pm outside Mother of God Parish Centre, Abbeydale Road.

✊ what a day we had counter-protesting against a big cohort of anti-abortionists in central Sheffield who circled us with their mob, causing confusion to passers-by.

❌Intimidating images of foetuses “alive in the womb”, the sound of heartbeat echoing behind the banners and information stands labelled “Heaven / Hell”. The shameful display was allowed to be staged fully in the heart of Sheffield this Bank Holiday weekend, when the city was bursting with life.

🫶🏼Our small activist group of two, lacking hands, still showed up to counter-protest and oh my, your response was immense! We had people passing standing with us for 5 mins, for 10 mins, however much they could stand, people challenging the anti-abortionists and vocally expressing their support to the defense of reproductive rights, we had people thanking us and women in tears, we had women sharing their own abortion stories from literally all walks of life. We cannot thank you enough, this is what solidarity looks like. We set off somewhat anxious, we saw them out with hope in our hearts.
