As May is Skin Cancer Awareness Month we wanted to share a little about one of the services we offer for our regular ‘treatment spotlight’ post.
In clinic we offer a service called: Map My Mole.
This service is dedicated to getting expert opinions on moles, or other lesions you may be concerned about, by consultant dermatologists.
How does it work?
We do an initial consultation discussing past medical history and then we take high resolution dermascope images of the lesion you are concerned about.
These are then sent to UK based consultants for review. They will determine if a mole/lesion is safe, needs monitoring, or requires removal.
A report is sent to you and/or the clinic outlining the diagnosis and recommending actions.
Why is it important?
This service helps identify suspicious moles or lesions early, with reports that can be used to speed up NHS or private referrals if a malignancy is suspected. Early detection saves lives.
So if you’re concerned about a mole or lesion seek advise from a GP or contact your nearest map my mole clinic.
