Be More Amy💛

Those three words are engraved on the bracelet I had made after Amy’s funeral and celebration of life last year. It’s the hashtag we started using in her memory and now it’s a movement.

Cdr Amy Gilmore MBE. My friend, everybody’s friend.

Right now an incredible group of family, friends, comrades and colleagues are undertaking a 630 mile relay of the South West Coastal Path in her memory, running/walking/laughing and reminiscing non stop from 16 to 23 May. 68 legs, non stop, all for Amy.

Sadly living abroad has meant the logistics of joining them just didn’t work so although I will be do my own physical challenge in the future to honour her memory and ethos, right now I’m doing the next best thing and shouting about it as loudly as I can from here.

Please support in any way you can:

My 5 a day… and no, I’m not talking vegetables!

Here are my five simple things I do every day to regulate my nervous system.

1. VENT Get it out of your head. Release the thoughts and release the power. Journal it out, dictate to Chat GPT, rant to a friend (use this one sparingly).

2. BREATHE Huff and puff if you need. In our house, we are currently roaring like a tiger, and then being silly like a monkey. I’m not really sure why, but it’s working! Classic is breathing for 4 and out for 6.

3. SHAKE IT OFF Taylor Swift style. Movement: shoulder roll, dance, shake your hands, twist from side to side. Move and release.

4. BACH FLOWER REMEDIES Are the hero in your handbag. Rescue Remedy general use. Elm for overwhelm. Vervain for constant pushing “just one more thing” and Larch for inner confidence.

5. AROMATHERAPY The power a few simple sniffs can give is noting to be sniffed at! Incredible at quickly regulating yourself. Geranium for a boost, Meditation or Women’s Balance (from Neal’s Yard) to settle are favourites.

What is in your top five? Let me know below ⬇️

PS Steps 6 & 7 are currently wine and chocolate, but hey everything in moderation! Awareness is key 😉

I am so excited about today as it really is the day of my dreams ⭐️ Yes, it may sound smug but I think rightly so!

❤️ So this morning I am delivering a corporate wellbeing talk on stress prevention.

🥰 Then one of my glorious clients comes in for week three of her 12 week programme. The beauty of this longer programme is that we get to spend real time deeply working through the layers, supporting her understanding of herself, her body and her responses.

👏 And then I get to swap seats and be coached by my new business coach because I will never stop investing in myself.

After that I am hoping there will be time to squeeze in a quick dog walk before I pick up my beautifully behaved children and we head to the beach for ice cream…OK so that last part is a dream! We did actually manage to head to the beach after school last week but based on the rain chucking it down and the tantrum of getting dressed this morning, I suspect we need to lower our expectations!

But hey, what a dream work day at least 😉

This is for anyone who needs to hear it today ❤️ 🥰 ❤️

What do you need right now? Not tomorrow, not when things calm down. Right now, today.

It might be a glass of water, fresh air, a conversation you’ve been putting off, cancelling something you don’t have the energy for, asking for help with something small, or simply sitting still for five minutes without your phone.

This morning I was on BBC Radio Jersey talking about exactly this. How often we override what our bodies and minds are telling us because we’re too busy, too needed, or just not in the habit of checking in.

We talked about the importance of awareness, of actually knowing yourself well enough to notice when something feels off, and how tuning into both your mind and your body is where that starts. Not as another thing to add to the list, but as the simplest, most radical act of self-care there is.

So, how are you truly feeling right now? What do you need? And can you give yourself permission to actually do it?

P.S. If you missed it you can catch up on BBC Sounds, around 15 minutes into Alison’s show. We chat for about 15 minutes. Worth a listen, if I do say so myself. 😄 https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m002vyrt

I’m on BBC Radio Jersey this morning at 10am with Alison talking about the mental load so many of us are carrying, and the small actions that actually help.

And while you will notice a push from me this week going on the radio, sharing on socials and giving a corporate wellbeing talk, this is the topic I talk about 24/7 365.

It’s a conversation I have every day with clients, not because it’s awareness week, but because this is real life for so many capable, quietly exhausted women.

Listen live from 10am on BBC Radio Jersey or BBC Sounds

How are you?

Not the “fine thanks” version, not the “can’t complain” version but the real one.

Think about it for a second. What would you say if someone asked you in passing? And then what would you actually say to your best friend, if she sat down and asked you properly?

This week is Mental Health Awareness Week and I’ll be sharing something every day. so yes we might be starting with awareness but we’ll also be sharing things that can help.

So let’s start here, with the most important question we forget to ask ourselves.
So: How are you? Xx

I have a crystal ball and it says you will leave every session telling me how brilliant I am and that you’re going to tell all your friends! It’s never wrong 😂

But seriously, working with me has to seem to be believed. It’s too easy to get caught up in but what is kinesiology and what sort of wellbeing is it that you do? And do I need to come to even though I don’t actually feel stressed? ✋ STOP!

Just come and try it for yourself. I will be offering free taster sessions at Strive soon. DM me and I will save you a spot x

Right, I’m just going to say it:

Being in the business of stress and burnout doesn’t make me immune to it. It just means I’ve built a toolbox and I use every single bit of it. Every single day!

Yes life is full, yes some stages are harder than others, yes I do rant and cry to release AND I (mostly) know what to do when this happens. That’s the difference.

Have a swipe and tell me if this resonates x

30/04/2026

I cried at the gym this morning.

Not because it was hard, but because when my PT asked for a one minute plank, I felt so strong I asked to go longer. I held it for two minutes and somewhere in the middle of that I remembered who I used to be.

I wish I could go back to younger me and tell her everything would be okay, that we would recover and be living a life of strength, joy and happiness beyond our wildest dreams. But truthfully I’m not sure she would have believed it.

When you are stuck in a chronic illness that nobody understands and there is no mainstream medical answer for, you can get stuck in a very dark place. A hopeless place where you watch everyone else living a life full of colour and joy while yours becomes frozen in sepia.

During those dark days my only goal was to be able to stand and walk unaided.

To look at me now, asking my PT to push me further, playing netball competitively, having completed two sprint triathlons, you would never guess my background. But it’s always there. Always my reason why.

Because I don’t want you to reach rock bottom before you start listening to your body. You don’t even need to be feeling terrible. You just need to wonder, what if?

⭐️ What if I could have some extra energy?
What if I could manage a social life around work?
What if this back pain could go away?
What if my stomach could calm down?
What if I could feel proud of myself, deeply and truly, even on my hardest days?
What if I just reached out to see what was possible?

I’ve done it before. And if you’re ready, we can do it together. Pop me a message and let’s chat x
