Truth Not Polish (An imperfect poem)

I didn’t wait to feel ready
I showed up, heart trembling, shaky breath
Still unsure but willing and steady

Not polished, but present
Not perfect, but real, resilient, and... present

I tested the mic twice, three times, more like ten!
Moved the ring light here, there, then back again

Adjusted the we**am a gazillion ways
Re-recorded the intro over days and days
Trying to get it 'right'

Then I laughed so hard
Realised I was stalling instead of pressing start

I let it go

I fumbled. I forgot
Figured it out mid-recording
Sweating and swearing a lot!

Still, I created
Not polished, just initiated

It’s not about the show, the polish, or praise
It’s about offering light in my own imperfect ways

My voice, returning to me
unpolished, unfiltered, being set free

I’m learning to surrender
To let go of control
And step into the rhythm of becoming whole

To the pauses, hitches, glitches and delays
To every winding path that brings me home

I’m learning to trust the unfolding
Not because it’s easy, but because it feels true
And it’s gently reshaping all that I knew
