Shoreham Homoeopathy

Shoreham Homoeopathy Therese Eriksen is an experienced registered homeopath, specialising in trauma.

Consultation with registered homeopath Therese Eriksen RSHom, SDSHom. Suitable for children and adults. Remedy included.
Chronic dis-ease arises when we reach overload (of toxicity/emotional distress/physical stress). Symptoms can appear as mental, emotional and/or physical manifestations of this inward dysregulation.

Homeopathy, this safe and gentle system of medicine, can help to restore equilibrium to our very being, so that we can return to fulfilling our potential in life.

The skilled homeopath will sensitively help the patient explore where the issues lie so that the journey to full health can unfold.

Remedies are prescribed at each consultation based on the totality of symptoms, made from the plant, animal and mineral kingdoms, with the substance that most closely resonates with the underlying state using the “law of similars”.

Due to their ultra-high dilutions, homeopathic remedies can be used by people of any age, even new born babies and pregnant or breast-feeding women.

Heat intolerance

Some people struggle disproportionately when temperatures rise. Even mild heat can trigger a clear set of symptoms.

Common features include:

• Feeling drained or weak in warm environments
• Headache or heaviness in the head
• Dizziness or light-headedness
• Irritability or restlessness
• Increased sweating or, in some cases, inability to sweat properly
• Worsening of existing symptoms such as anxiety, palpitations, or digestive discomfort.

Heat intolerance can be linked to stress load, post-illness recovery, hormonal shifts, thyroid imbalance, medication effects, or autonomic nervous system dysregulation.

In homoeopathy, the focus is on the individual pattern: how heat affects you specifically, what relieves it, and what other symptoms appear alongside it. Remedies are selected based on the overall picture rather than heat alone as an isolated symptom.

A variety of ferments

Sauerkraut and fermented carrot & ginger ("carrot kraut"!) might both be fermented vegetables, but they’re actually quite different.

Sauerkraut is made from cabbage and salt alone. During fermentation, the natural bacteria on the cabbage transform it into something much more digestible, tangy, and rich in beneficial compounds.

Fermented carrot & ginger has a completely different flavour profile. It’s naturally sweeter, often more appealing for people who are new to fermented foods, and brings in the different plant compounds found in carrots and ginger.

Different ferments contain different strains of bacteria, different nutrients, and different benefits.

That’s one of the reasons I encourage people not to rely on just one fermented food or drink all the time.

Variety matters.

Sauerkraut, kimchi, fermented carrots, kefir, kombucha, beet kvass, yoghurt, sourdough… they all contribute something slightly different.

Eating a wide range of fermented foods supports diversity in the gut.

And often, people discover that they tolerate some ferments much better than others.

You don’t have to eat huge amounts either. Small, regular amounts are often enough.

Skin flare-ups that seem linked to stress or hormones?

For some people, acne, eczema, hives, or other skin symptoms become noticeably worse during times of stress, pressure, or hormonal change.

Teenagers may notice flare-ups during exam periods or stressful times at school or university.

Women often describe skin symptoms becoming worse around their menstrual cycle, during perimenopause, or at other times of hormonal change.

Sometimes the skin improves for a while, only to flare up again during periods of emotional stress, poor sleep, overwhelm, or illness.

Because of this, many people begin to notice that their skin seems closely connected to what is happening in the rest of their life and body.

As a homoeopath, I consider these wider patterns carefully, rather than looking only at the skin itself.

Rather than simply expecting flare-ups to keep returning, I aim to work with you to reduce this tendency.

Appointments are available online or in person.

Vertigo or dizziness when turning in bed or looking up?

You might feel fine when you're still, but suddenly it feels as though the room is spinning when you roll over in bed, look upwards, bend down, or move your head too quickly.

For some, the sensation passes within seconds.

For others, it can leave them feeling unsettled, nauseous, unsteady, or anxious about triggering it again.

It can begin unexpectedly and have a surprisingly large impact on confidence, driving, walking, travelling, or everyday activities.

Many people simply try to manage it and hope it settles by itself, particularly if they've been to the doctor's and no explanation was found.

As a homoeopath, I consider the pattern carefully — what triggers it, how the sensation feels, how long it lasts, and what else may be happening alongside it.

Rather than simply accepting the same cycle repeatedly, I aim to work with you to reduce this tendency.

Appointments are available online or in person.

Exam Stress

Exam stress can affect far more than concentration.

Many students experience headaches, poor sleep, nausea, stomach problems, anxiety, tearfulness, panic, loss of confidence, or feeling emotionally overwhelmed during exam periods.

For some, the pressure builds gradually over weeks.

For others, symptoms appear suddenly before exams, presentations, or revision sessions.

Stress can also affect appetite, energy levels, motivation, and memory, making it even harder to cope.

As a homoeopath, I see how emotional pressure and physical symptoms are closely linked.

Homoeopathic support for the nervous system, sleep, resilience, and emotional wellbeing can sometimes help students feel calmer, steadier, and better able to manage the demands placed upon them.

Exam stress is very real, and many young people quietly struggle more than those around them realise.

🫙 Fermented foods and gut health 🫙

Many people first come to me through fermentation workshops because they are already trying to improve their health naturally.

They’ve often cleaned up their diet, reduced sugar, started making fermented foods, and are genuinely making an effort to support their gut health and overall wellbeing.

And usually that helps enormously.

But sometimes people still find themselves struggling with ongoing symptoms despite doing “all the right things.”

Digestive issues. Food sensitivities. Poor sleep. Low mood. Anxiety. Hormonal symptoms. Fatigue. Skin problems. Recurring illness. Feeling “not quite right” but never fully getting answers.

This is often where one-to-one homoeopathic support can help.

In clinic, I’m not simply looking at a diagnosis or isolated symptom. I look at the whole picture of what has happened in someone’s health over time.

Stress. Grief. Burnout. Hormonal changes. Illness. Trauma. Antibiotics. Emotional shocks. Long periods of coping.

These things can all leave an imprint on the body and nervous system, affecting how resilient and balanced someone feels physically and emotionally.

Fermented foods can be a wonderful part of supporting health, but sometimes people need more individualised support alongside that.
This is why I do both.

I love teaching people practical ways to nourish themselves through food, but I also work one-to-one with people who feel their health needs a deeper level of support.

Thank you to everyone who came to Saturday's workshop 💛

Mental Health Awareness Week feels like an important reminder that struggling emotionally is often far more common than people realise.

Many people continue functioning, working, caring for others, and carrying on as normal whilst quietly feeling overwhelmed, anxious, exhausted, low, or emotionally flat underneath.

Sometimes these feelings begin after stress, grief, hormonal changes, burnout, illness, or long periods of coping alone.

As a homoeopath, I see how closely emotional wellbeing and physical health are connected.

Sleep changes, digestive symptoms, inflammation, hormonal imbalance, anxiety, tension, overwhelm, and low mood can all be part of the wider picture.

You do not have to simply “push through” because everyone else thinks you are managing.

If you’re ready to begin exploring support, you can get in touch. I work online and in person.

Joint stiffness that is worst first thing in the morning?

Some people describe waking feeling stiff, tight, or uncomfortable when they first get out of bed.

The first few steps can feel awkward or painful, yet as they begin moving around, the joints gradually loosen and become easier.

It may affect the knees, hips, lower back, hands, or feet, and for some people it has slowly become part of everyday life.

Many people simply put it down to ageing and assume they must learn to live with it.

As a homoeopath, I consider the pattern carefully — when it happens, what improves it, what aggravates it, and what else may be happening alongside it.

Rather than simply accepting the same cycle day after day, I aim to work with you to reduce this tendency.

Appointments are available online or in person.

UTI's that keep returning...

Some people describe a familiar cycle — symptoms improve with treatment, sometimes completely, then weeks or months later the infection returns again.

For some, it happens after in*******se, after stress, during menopause, or following antibiotics.

Others feel they never fully return to normal between episodes.

Alongside the burning, urgency, or discomfort, many people also describe anxiety about it returning and becoming increasingly cautious about travel, social plans, or even everyday activities.

Although recurring UTIs are common, they are not something you simply have to keep enduring indefinitely.

As a homoeopath, I look at your personal susceptibility, frequency, triggers, and what else may be happening alongside it.

If you would like to explore how homoeopathy may help you, we can work together online or in person.

Sudden irritability or rage just before your period?

One moment you're feeling relatively fine. Then suddenly you are irritable, short-tempered, or even overwhelmed with anger in the days before your period.

To others, it can seem out of proportion to what’s happening; small things become intolerable, patience disappears. Sometimes it’s followed by guilt or a sense of “that’s not really me.” Indeed, it can seem quite out of character.

Although you may have endured this for many years, you don't have to continue this way.

If you would like to explore how homoeopathy can help you, we can work together online or in person.
