What if I told you that the key to your wellbeing lies in an activity that you do every single day, and more often than not, pay no attention to…
An activity that enables you to shift from fight or flight mode, to rest and digest; regulating your autonomic nervous system to allow you more time in a calm parasympathetic state.
Would you believe me if I told you that I was talking about breathing?
It’s the one thing we’ve all been doing since the beginning of our days. Yet despite it giving us life, many of us haven’t spent any time learning how to breathe properly.
(Laura, I’ve been breathing all of my life! Surely I’ve got this sussed?) - Stick with me here!
If we learn to manage our breathing cadence, and our biomechanics, we can change our biochemistry to a more positive state.
We can train ourselves to breathe through stress, anxiety, uncertainty and discomfort. We can train ourselves to breathe into a more calm, positive and resilient state of being.
All good coaches have their own coaches, and I’m so glad that and I chose Kev to be our coach on Monday.
Kev beautifully guided us both through a Buteyko breathwork session to get us ready to test our minds and our bodies in a cold water immersion session.
6 minutes in 6 degrees.
6 minutes of stillness.
6 minutes of using nothing but breath to manage the cold, the stress response, the negative thoughts.
6 minutes of resetting the nervous system.
6 minutes of building strength and resilience.
Hours of euphoria after.
If you’re struggling with:
*Lack of quality sleep
*Lack of focus and concentration
*Fatigue
*Stress or anxiety
Focused breathwork can help.
I can’t recommend enough. A generous, warm and selfless gent, and he makes a great cuppa!
