Yesterday marked the culmination of nine months of collaboration and creativity with the talented design students at Lancaster University.
Last September, we partnered with the aim of creating something for Year 6 transition that went beyond the traditional booklet or assembly approach.
Yesterday, I had the privilege of seeing the final result — and I was genuinely blown away.
After multiple visits to the university, countless emails, and many discussions and decisions along the way, I watched five design students present their project from their ‘Reignite Studios’ at the university.
What they delivered and how they presented it, was exceptional.
They created an innovative board game template that brings together all of the content from the Headssup evidenced based transition booklet — a resource I deliver to more than 1,000 Year 6 pupils each year.
This is now a brand-new resource that can help Year 6 pupils prepare for secondary school in evidence-based ways, while making the transition process more engaging, interactive, and accessible.
I can already see the potential impact this could have across mainstream schools, Virtual Schools, SEMH settings, children with SEND, school trusts, hospital schools, and holiday clubs.
Seeing their ideas, creativity, and commitment come to life was inspiring, and I’m incredibly proud to have been part of the journey. And they were so lovely to work with!!
These students will go far!! 👏👏🤩
So a huge thank you to Anna, Ginoe, Millie, Mia and Yiru!! And thank you to their tutors David and Lisa!!
