Delph Side is everything a primary school should be; fun, exciting, caring and forward thinking! We don’t know what jobs our children will do in the future, in fact they might not even exist yet, but at Delph Side we strive to equip our learners with the skills needed, not only to make them successful, but to go beyond that and exceed expec

tations, the sky’s the limit! My name is Liz Ormerod and I am proud to be the Headteacher of Delph Side Community Primary School. Having approximately 240 children across our school, we cater for children from the ages of 2 to 11 and everyone feels part of our very special school family. Our teachers are EXCEPTIONAL, providing quality, tailored learning for each and every child, every day. We really do "Make the Difference" . Every single day. This was made official when we were crowned....

'Primary School of the Year" at the Pearson Teaching Awards on the BBC! We believe that schools are stronger when they work together and that this provides better opportunities for our children. We love to work with other schools to ensure we are constantly learning from one another to ensure our children continue to receive the best provision and opportunities . We are proud to work with Edge Hill University, knowing that we can support the future of teaching – Delph Side is an exceptional place to learn, for everyone! Sport and wellbeing is important to us too. As a member of the West Lancashire Sports Partnership, and an accredited Forest School, all our children access high quality sport events and competitions to promote a love of sport and a healthy lifestyle. We invite in professional coaching staff from the West Lancashire School Partnership to ensure PE lessons, in every discipline, are taught to the highest standard. However, we recognise that sport is a great leveller and success means different things to different people so we are also keen to support inclusive events, we just want our children to be active! I almost forgot to mention our brilliant Breakfast Club that is totally free and open from 7.45am to ensure our children can start their day in the best possible way! After school, we have our 'Learning Zone'. It is our after school club which is open to pupils from Delph Side. Our Governing Body is incredibly supportive in all that we do and visit the school regularly to challenge and support leaders to ensure we maintain high standards and move forward as an organisation. Our whole school community works together to live our values:

We were last inspected by OFSTED in January 2020 and we were very proud to be graded as ‘Good’ in all areas. Our door is always open, please call by and meet our wonderful team and have a tour of our fantastic school – it’s a great family, who really do “make the difference”. Every day is an 'open day', so come down and see the magic for yourself! Liz Ormerod

Mr Hallam has been sparking a real love of science in our Year 4 Delph Siders! The children have exploring the fascinating world of electricity - learning all about electrical circuits, conductors and insulators through engaging, hands-on investigations.
From building simple circuits to testing different materials, the children have shown fantastic curiosity and scientific thinking throughout. Their enthusiasm and excitement for discovering how things work has truly been electrifying! 💙

Mummification Experience Lesson!
Year 4 were completely immersed in Ancient Egyptian history during our exciting Egyptian Mummification Experience lesson. The classroom was transformed into a world of ancient traditions as the children stepped into the role of Egyptian embalmers.
The highlight of the experience was mummifying their own dolls. The children were absolutely mesmerised as they carefully followed each step of the mummification process, listening closely to instructions and working together to complete each stage successfully.
This hands-on experience helped the children to discover just how important it is to follow instructions accurately and in the correct order. They quickly realised that having the right equipment and understanding the methods used were essential!
The teamwork displayed throughout was amazing!
The experience sparked fantastic discussions and inspired some brilliant writing of instructions afterwards, with children using ambitious vocabulary and historical knowledge to bring their writing to life 👏🏻

Thank you to everyone who donated today.
Not sure how much was raised yet but every £1 will help.

The choir are all applying for visas and getting ready for the tour.
So much work behind the scenes to give the kids an experience they (and us) will never forget. Thank you Delph Side!

During this week's Forest School session, Year 1 showed superstar skills and fantastic teamwork as they split into groups and designed their very own obstacle courses. It was brilliant to see them supporting one another, sharing ideas and having so much fun along the way.
