Personal trainers are known for their ability to help us reach our fitness goals, but did you know they offer so much more?

Here's what you may not know about some of their hidden skills.

Life coaches - PT's are great listeners, they offer advice on healthy habit building and hold you accountable with regular check-ins to help you reach your fitness and life goals.

Nutritional fountains of knowledge - Many can provide personalized nutrition guidance to help you tweak your daily diet, to fuel your body for the best chance of success.

Mental health advocates - PT's don't just talk the talk - they understand the connection between physical and mental health and can offer input on tried and tested strategies to combat stress and anxiety.

Injury Rehab - Beyond just getting you stronger all round, PT's are often trained to help clients recover from injuries and prevent future recurrence.

Mindset motivators - They inspire and challenge clients to develop a growth mindset, leading to success not only in fitness but in all areas of life.

The Surprising Benefits of Regular Strength Training You Need to Know

Regular Strength training isn't just great for your physical health

Increasing strength has a number of benefits that can positively impact your confidence in day-to-day life.

Here are a few examples:

Improved posture: When you have stronger muscles, especially in your core and back, it's easier to maintain good posture, which can make you look and feel more confident.

Better physical performance: Having increased strength can lead to improved physical performance in your daily activities, making you feel more capable and confident in your abilities.

Increased self-esteem: Accomplishing strength-training goals can boost your self-esteem and confidence, as you see your physical capabilities improve.

Reduced risk of injury: Stronger muscles can also reduce your risk of injury, as they are better equipped to handle the physical demands of daily life.

Improved mental health: Regular strength training has been shown to improve mental health and reduce stress, which can contribute to overall feelings of confidence and well-being.

Remember, building strength takes time and dedication.

Start with basic movements and use lighter loads - once you have mastered the techniques you can increase the resistance

If you're unsure where to start - you can contact a great local PT in your area via our platform now

The Key to Your Fitness Journey: Harnessing the Power of Momentum!

Don't let a lack of motivation hold you back.

Remember, it's not about being in the mood to work out every day, it's about keeping the momentum going.

When you miss a day, it becomes easier to miss another, before you know it, you've lost all progress.

Keep pushing yourself, even when you don't feel like it.

The progress you make each day, no matter how small, will add up and keep you moving forward.

A personal trainer can be a valuable asset in helping you keep the momentum of your fitness journey.

Their expertise can provide you with the right guidance and support you need to stay motivated and on track.

They can tailor a workout program specifically to your needs and goals, to help you overcome the obstacles you'll encounter along the way.

Regular check-ins and accountability help keep you on track.

With their encouragement, you'll be more likely to push through tough workouts and reach your goals.

The most overlooked & underapplied element of success?

The thing that separates dreamers from doers?

It's not what you might think

It isn't motivation, motivated people still fail

Intelligence? Nope, success doesn't require genius

It's grind

Effort

The Work

I want to have a successful business, but I don't want to sacrifice my spare time to do the work
I'd rather pay thousands for the “secrets” of business, to buy the solution, but won’t master what's right in front of me.
Too much time & effort, too many hours, not for me.

I want to lose weight, but I want the fast-track - the magic pill, the easy diet, the quick fix....
instead of working out a couple of times a week, hiring a coach or PT
and fixing my nutrition instead of eating like a teenager

The single biggest difference between the have and the have-not's of success

Is the willingness do just do the work required

Its Sustained effort for as long as it takes

Not finding the next "hack" that jumps us to the front of the queue

Not a 15 minute youtube video promising the next must-have fad

You can't buy success - but if you could, then the currency would be sweat!

Go earn it

Positive examples should be demonstrated, especially as a Parent

Kids might not always listen

But they are ALWAYS watching

If you preach to them they can be anything they want in life

But you demonstrate the opposite

They're gonna think you're full of cr*p!

Action will always speak louder than words

Show your kids how to set inspiring goals

Then show them how to smash them out of the park!

-- but we can learn to love the work we do --

Great insight from my coach today, which was used in the context of discussing the topic of business & careers

He was offering advice on overcoming our negative thoughts surrounding certain tasks, roles or even the job as a whole within the context of the working day

And offering insights on how to reframe our negative perception into one that is empowering rather than disempowering

But as we're a Health & Fitness platform I want to reframe it for Exercise

As I see it, the percentage of people who LOVE exercise, working out and getting after it in the gym, they're in the minority - perhaps 5% of the population, maybe 10%

They're usually the kind of folk who go on to become PT's, Coach's or who compete in things like crossfit or bodybuilding

Because they LOVE it

The rest of the population, would perhaps rather avoid exercising altogether - but probably do it with some reluctance because they know its good for them

Or they've been told if they don't that it's likely to cause them some major issues further down the line

So if you're one of those, what if you could reframe the work you do in the gym, the work you do when out for a walk, a run - whatever exercise it is that you don't want to do

Because you can't always do the work you love

But you can learn to love the work you do

You start with a statement like;

I love to exercise because it allows me to...

(some examples I might use);

Feel more confident in new situations
Have more energy to do things I value
Carry my kids when they get tired
Run after my kids when we play at the park
Look/feel good naked!
Wear the clothes I really like to wear
Take part in my favourite sport/hobby

You get the picture

By reframing the thing you're telling yourself you don't like, you get to experience it from a whole new perspective.....one of gratitude

So, what do you love to hate about fitness that you'd like to reframe?

At 42 years I still beat myself up for 'lack of consistency' - read on if you can relate

I used to think that consistency meant all of the following;

Always Giving 100%
Persistent Progress
Pushing myself
Outworking my previous best
Always improving
Perfection
Quantity & volume
Overreaching
Not missing a day
Doing more than 'others'

I get frustrated, annoyed and talk negatively to myself if my consistency doesn't match the bar I set each day

Or when my ambition & motivation skips from one extreme to the other (particularly if my energy dips)

But the crazy thing is, when I look back over the weeks, months & years - I'm consistent

When I look at the progress I have made over the longer term - I'm OK with it

For me, consistency is all of the things I mentioned - but just not in equal measure, and not ALL of the time

I believe that in order to be consistent in the longer term - we need periods of Consolidation

Consolidation means the process of making something stronger or more solid - or combining a number of things to make a stronger "whole"

Where we often struggle as individuals is those times when we are Consolidating - combining what we've learned, refining the output

Because consolidation is more difficult to measure - it doesn't feel like progress or moving the needle

Consolidation sometimes feels like standing still - but it's not, it's giving yourself the time you need to absorb, review and learn from your actions

It's as much a part of Consistency as persistence & perseverance

So the next time you find yourself frustrated from a lack of consistency - it might be time to Consolidate & Review & Refine, before you try to move forward again

Just don't get stuck there

Sea Dips, Cold Showers, Ice Baths - why bother?

I don't do them for recovery
(I'm not a Pro Athlete, as you can see)

I don't do them for fat loss
(Again, as you can see!)

I don't do them for longevity
(although this is beneficial according to modern science)

I don't even look forward to them all that much

What I focus on is how I feel AFTERWARDS!

I feel AWESOME

Energized, Motivated, Inspired....

And yes, a bit bloody chilly for a while!

But they make me feel alive, so I do it daily

What do you do that energizes you daily - let us know in the comments

Procrastination is one of the most insidious types of fear

Because it masquerades as harmless, even jovial

People often brag about being indecisive, a terrible procrastinator

The reality is that it's a form of FEAR

One that eats up your time, motivation & ambition

Until you realise you've just wasted another hour - doom scrolling (you might be doing it right now)

When you could have been doing something productive

We're all guilty of over thinking, over analysing & over complicating things that are simple

Sometimes it's good to weight up your options

But if you've been over-thinking it for too long

Try the 51% rule - if you're even just 51% sure that something is going to IMPROVE your life

Then you should go for it!

What's the thing YOU have procrastinated over the most this week, let us know in the comments
