☀️ Hot Weather Health Reminder ☀️

With temperatures rising, it’s important to take extra care of yourself and those around you.

💧 Drink plenty of fluids
🌳 Stay in the shade where possible
👕 Wear light, loose-fitting clothing
❤️ Check in on family, friends and neighbours, especially those who may be more vulnerable

Keep an eye out for signs of heat-related illness, such as headaches, dizziness, nausea, confusion or unusually hot, dry skin.

Please take a moment to read our weather warning poster and help us spread the message. A few simple steps can make a big difference in staying safe during hot weather.

If you are feeling unwell or need medical advice, please complete a triage form via our website.

Stay cool, stay hydrated and stay safe.

Men’s Mental Health Week | 8–14 June 2026

This week is a reminder that mental health matters just as much as physical health.

Many men find it difficult to talk about how they’re feeling, but reaching out for support is a sign of strength, not weakness. Whether it’s checking in with a friend, speaking to family, or contacting your GP, no one should feel they have to face things alone.

At Southmead Surgery, we’re here to support your mental wellbeing every step of the way.

✔️ Talk about how you’re feeling
✔️ Stay connected with others
✔️ Keep active and look after yourself
✔️ Seek support when you need it

Let’s encourage open conversations, challenge stigma, and remind each other that it’s okay not to be okay.

Over the past few months, we’ve been trialling an automated recall system called Abtrace to help us manage follow‑ups for certain conditions. It’s worked very well and has allowed our reception and administrative teams to spend more time supporting patients who need extra help.

Because of this, we’re now using Abtrace to send reminders for blood test monitoring, chronic disease reviews, immunisations, and some medication checks. If you receive a text or email from Southmead Surgery, please know it is genuine — not spam — and is simply there to help you stay on top of your care.

Using the booking links included in these messages makes it easier for you to arrange appointments at a time that suits you, and it helps us provide a safer, more efficient service for everyone.

Thank you for your understanding and support.
