Life is about experiences. Memories. Being here while we're actually fu***ng here.

But how often do we really do that?

We're constantly chasing the next dopamine hit.

The next achievement. The next bit of validation. The next thing we're convinced will finally make us happy.

And lately I've been asking myself...

What actually matters to me?

I'm dealing with grief through loss while also fighting for my mam to have the most basic care while she's really poorly.

And f**k me, it makes you sit with your life.
Not just what you want.

What you don't want anymore.

I don't want to live in a fishbowl doing the same s**t day in, day out because that's what you're “supposed” to do.

I don't want relationships or friendships where the compassion, care and effort only travel in one direction.

And if choosing that means sometimes having nobody?

I'm actually cool with that.
Because I know how I love.
I know how fiercely I care.
I know how passionate I am.

And I know what I bring to the fu***ng table.
I talk a lot about beliefs formed in childhood and through lived experiences because I've had to unravel a s**tload of my own.

Even my mental illness became part of the path that forced me to look within and ask...

What is actually good for ME?

And I did the work.

Does that mean I'm permanently zen now?

Absolutely fu***ng not. 😂

Do I still have moments where I could happily put people's heads on sticks?

Yes.

But now I breathe.

I walk.
I meditate the s**t out of my life.
I regulate myself.
I come back to me.

I've had plenty of “wellness” people turn against me because of my determination, my mouth, my passion or because I didn't fit their version of what a spiritual or mindful woman should look like.

And I'm grateful for every single one of them.
Because they showed me exactly who I never wanted to become.

One thing I'm incredibly proud of today?

There are people walking around with good reputations because I chose not to tell my side of the story.

Not because I'm scared of them.

Because I've finally learned that everybody doesn't have to like me.

And I don't have to like everybody either.
I can be mindful and still tell someone to go f**k themselves.

Those things are not mutually exclusive. 😂

I'm messy BUT mindful.

I wear hoodies and leggings, not floaty hippy pants and vests.

I can have a room pi***ng themselves laughing playing hide and seek and ten minutes later have those same people breathing, grounding and calming their nervous systems.

That's me.

And I fu***ng love the woman I've become.

Something is shifting again.

I can feel it.

My next chapter feels huge.

Not because I've forced it. Not because somebody told me what my niche should be. Not because I've manufactured some new identity for social media.
The path has led me here organically.

And I finally understand what I'm here to do.

I'm here to show women who the f**k they are.
Not who they were taught to be.
Not who somebody else needs them to be.
Not the watered-down version that keeps everybody comfortable.

Who THEY are.

And for the women coming with me into this next chapter…

F**k, I'm excited.

And I will never apologise for it. 🖤

Do you know what I’ve been thinking about?

How many women call themselves ‘easy-going’ when what they actually mean is… I’ve learned not to be difficult...

Then...

You don’t complain.
You let things go.
You say “it’s fine” when it isn’t.
You’re the one who smooths everything over.
You consider everybody else’s mood before you say what you actually think.

And everyone gets to call you laid-back, understanding, easy to be around.

But I wonder how often “keeping the peace” actually means you’re the only person who isn’t allowed to have a problem.

There’s a difference between being peaceful and being afraid of what happens when you stop making everybody else comfortable.

And f**k me, that’s a hard habit to see when people have spent years praising you for it.

Were you the “easy-going one” in your family or relationships?

Did anyone else grow up with superstitions that you STILL follow now, even though you’re a fully grown adult and logically know better? 😂

Like…
Never put new shoes on the table.
Don’t walk under a ladder.
If your palm itches, money is coming.
Don’t open an umbrella indoors.
Throw salt over your shoulder.
A bird flying into the house means something is coming.
Certain numbers, certain dreams, certain animals appearing at certain times…

I’m fascinated by this stuff because so many of these beliefs were passed down through families without anyone ever really explaining why.

Your mam said it.
Her mam said it.
Her mam probably said it before that.

And suddenly you’re 46 years old thinking, absolutely not, those shoes are NOT going on that table. 😂

Some of it is superstition.
Some of it is folklore.
Some of it has roots in old spiritual beliefs and protection practices.

And some of it we just inherited without questioning it.

Tell me one superstition your family taught you that you still can’t bring yourself to ignore.
I want the weird ones too. 👀

Funny how the things that bring you back to yourself don’t always look like healing.

I started baking and cooking more because I needed somewhere for my head to go.

When there was too much s**t spinning around in there, I could weigh flour. Chop vegetables. Make something from scratch. Concentrate on what was right in front of me instead of everything I couldn’t control.

I didn’t start doing it because I was trying to “find myself.”

I just needed some fu***ng peace.

But looking back, I think that’s how a lot of us start coming back to ourselves.

Not through some massive spiritual awakening.
Through tiny things that make us feel present again.

Cooking. Walking. Gardening. Reading. Painting. Sitting somewhere quiet with a coffee.

Things that remind you that you still exist underneath everything you’ve been carrying.

And apparently today, mine is cracking roasties. 😂

What’s something you started doing just to cope… that actually became part of finding yourself again?

I’ve been thinking about mushrooms today 😂🍄

Stay with me because there is a point.

Some of the mushrooms that catch your eye the most are the ones you’re warned not to eat.

Beautiful.
Bright.
Interesting.
The ones you instantly notice.

And then there are others that look plain, weird, earthy, even a bit fu***ng ugly…

but they’re the ones that can actually nourish you.

And I thought…

That is literally people.

We are so easily drawn to what looks good.

Pretty words.
Charm.
Confidence.
People who validate us.
People who tell us exactly what we want to hear.

And that’s the thing about manipulation.

It doesn’t normally arrive looking dangerous.

It arrives looking attractive.

It tells you you’re right.
It agrees with your version of the story.
It makes you feel understood.
It feeds your ego just enough that you keep swallowing it.

Meanwhile, the person who tells you the truth?

You might fu***ng hate them.

Because the truth might be:

You keep choosing the same person in a different body.

Your boundaries are s**t.

You’re blaming everyone else but refusing to look at your own behaviour.

You’re calling something “bad luck” that is actually a pattern.

You’re waiting for your life to change without changing yourself.

And THAT is much harder to digest.

I know I lose people because I’m blunt.

I know some people would prefer me softer.

Prettier.

More “love and light.”

But I’m not going to lie to you just so you like me.

I’m not here to stroke your ego.

I’m here to make you question the s**t you keep repeating.

So maybe I am the mushroom you walk past because you don’t like the look of it 😂

But sometimes the thing you initially want to spit out…

is the very thing you need to digest.

If you’re ready to stop being endlessly validated and actually look at the patterns keeping you stuck, comment RESET and I’ll send you the details. 🍄

If you’re new here… hi, I’m Leyanne 👋🏼

The Wellbeing Witch. Shadow worker. Nervous-system nerd. Professional caller-outer of your own bulls**t. 😂

I help women who’ve spent years people-pleasing, over-giving, abandoning themselves and living by everyone else’s expectations finally come back to WHO THE F**K THEY ACTUALLY ARE.

I’m not here to teach you to “just think positive.”
I’m not interested in pretending healing is all moon water and affirmations.
And I definitely don’t believe you need fixing.

We talk about the uncomfortable s**t.

Trauma.
Boundaries.
Self-sabotage.
Identity.
The nervous system.
Shadow work.
Manifestation.
Why you keep repeating patterns you KNOW aren’t good for you.
And how you actually start choosing yourself.

I created Shadow to Sovereign™ because I wanted a space where women could do this work without having to become some polished, perfectly healed version of themselves first.

You can swear.
You can laugh.
You can fall apart.
You can change your mind.
You can start again.

You just can’t keep abandoning yourself.

So… that’s who the f**k I am. 😂💜

And if something on this page keeps making you think, “f**k… she’s talking about me” — you’re probably exactly where you need to be.

I didn’t find myself overnight. I started by questioning who the f**k I’d become. 📚

These were 3 of the books I read when I first started trying to understand myself, my thoughts, my patterns and why I spent so much of my life trying to keep everyone else happy.

📖 Unfu*k Yourself — Gary John Bishop
📖 The Untethered Soul — Michael A. Singer
📖 The Disease to Please — Dr. Harriet B. Braiker

They didn’t magically change my life.

But they made me THINK.

They made me question my beliefs, notice my inner dialogue, recognise my people-pleasing patterns and start figuring out who I actually was underneath all the s**t I’d picked up along the way.

And that was the beginning.

If you’re on your own self-development journey, trying to find yourself again, learning how to stop people pleasing, build self-worth or change your mindset, these are three books I’d recommend starting with.

Save this for your next book haul 📚✨
