Apparently I have a gym membership...
According to my bank account, it's very well used.
According to my attendance record... not so much. I think I've managed three visits this year. 🤦🏼♀️
So, I thought I'd share a few more random facts about me...
I'm ridiculously excited by new clinic technology. A new piece of equipment will always beat a new handbag.
I have a weakness for rescue animals, good cake and buying skincare that I definitely don't need... just because I'm "trying it out."
Conferences are one of my favourite parts of the job. Yes, I love the education, but I also love catching up with people, meeting new faces and putting the world to rights over a drink or two afterwards. Some of my closest friends have come from this profession.
I'm a regular listener to the podcast, and one of the unexpected joys has been the community that's grown around it. People who started out as names on social media or voices in my headphones are now genuine friends.
One of the things I'm most proud of is the relationships I've built with practitioners across the UK and around the world.
I genuinely believe collaboration beats competition. Every single time. This profession is at its best when we share knowledge, support each other and celebrate each other's successes.
I've been a nurse for over 35 years, and I still get just as excited about learning something new as I did when I first qualified.
I spend a lot of time teaching, mentoring and supporting other healthcare professionals. It's one of the most rewarding parts of what I do because if we can help another practitioner grow in confidence or make a safer clinical decision, ultimately patients benefit too.
What I love most about my job isn't injecting treatments. It's meeting people. Listening to their stories. Helping them understand what's happening to their skin or face.
Finding solutions that genuinely fit them.
That's the bit that never gets old.
If you've made it this far, tell me one random fact about yourself in the comments.
(And if anyone knows how to actually use a gym membership, I'm all ears... 😉)
