A glimpse into one of this week’s sessions working therapeutically with grief and loss in a young person.

Sometimes children and young people don’t always have the words to explain how they feel. Creative therapy can provide a safe, gentle and supportive space to explore emotions, memories and experiences without pressure.

Using a blank canvas, paint and creativity, this session helped a young person express feelings connected to loss in their own unique way.

Creative work can help:
• Explore big feelings safely
• Encourage emotional expression
• Build resilience and coping skills
• Create connection through memories and meaning

Today I received a beautiful bouquet of flowers from a client’s mam and dad, thanking me for going above and beyond to ensure the right care and support was put in place for their child.

Moments like this truly mean so much to me. My background within the NHS has given me the confidence to advocate when I feel additional support is needed and to challenge professionally when the right care is not being provided.

For me, counselling is not just about what happens within the therapy room. It’s also about helping clients and families feel heard, supported and empowered throughout their journey. Sometimes that means being a voice for those who are struggling to find theirs.

I genuinely love the work I do and feel incredibly grateful for the trust families place in me. Thank you again for such a thoughtful and kind gesture — it was deeply appreciated 💐

In a world where more people are speaking about mental health, it’s important to remember that not everyone offering support is appropriately trained or qualified.

Claiming expertise without recognised qualifications or ethical practice can be harmful and misleading. It’s okay to ask a therapist about their training, experience and professional registration.

For this reason, I’ve created this post to openly share the qualifications, training and continued professional development that have taken years of study, commitment and determination to achieve.
