POWERbreathe - Official site POWERbreathe Inspiratory Muscle Training. As you breathe in through POWERbreathe, you breathe in against an adjustable, calibrated resistance.

Breath by breath, our world leading, clinically proven, drug-free respiratory muscle training devices help you to breathe better for health, wellness, sport, and performing arts. POWERbreathe works closely with experts in breathing physiology from around the globe and has developed a range of cutting edge breathing training, monitoring and testing devices. POWERbreathe uses the same principals as

resistance training and is often referred to as “dumbbells for your diaphragm”. This makes your inspiratory muscles work harder. This concept of training is called Inspiratory Muscle Training or IMT. POWERbreathe training has been proven to improve sports performance, improve fitness and reduce breathlessness.

June 21 is Global Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Awareness Day 💙

A day to raise awareness, support those affected, and recognise the strength and resilience of the MND community and a powerful reminder that breathing isn’t something we should take for granted 💙

Emerging research suggests respiratory muscle training may help maintain respiratory muscle strength in people living with MND, an area of growing importance as researchers continue to explore ways to support breathing, cough effectiveness and quality of life.

Professor Mark Faghy highlighted a growing body of evidence linking Long COVID with respiratory muscle weakness ⚡️

Research presented in the webinar showed:

💪Up to 88% of symptomatic Long COVID patients had reduced inspiratory muscle strength in one study
💪Around 50% of young post-COVID patients showed inspiratory muscle weakness
💪Increased respiratory muscle performance is associated with lower symptom burden

The takeaway? Breathing muscles are skeletal muscles.

And like any muscle, when strength is reduced, everyday activities can feel harder than they should.

The goal isn’t to reach Level 10. The goal is to keep progressing 🚀

Every turn of your POWERbreathe PLUS increases the resistance your breathing muscles work against. And just like any muscle in your body, they adapt when you challenge them consistently.

💪 Start where you are.
🏃 Train regularly.
🫁 Increase the load when you’re ready.

Whether you’re on Level 1 or Level 10, the magic happens when you keep moving forward.

What level are you currently training at?

What if your breathlessness isn’t just about your lungs? 🫁

One of the most interesting insights from Professor Mark Faghy’s latest webinar on Long COVID:
Traditional lung tests don’t always explain how breathless someone feels.

In a cohort of 155 people with Long COVID:

❌ Spirometry showed little relationship with symptoms
✅ Respiratory muscle strength was associated with symptom burden

It’s a reminder that breathing is about more than lung capacity alone - the muscles that power every breath matter too.

If we don’t measure breathing muscle strength, what might we be missing?

New research in paediatric kidney transplant recipients highlights the potential of respiratory muscle training 🫁⚡️

Using a combination of IMT, EMT and chest physiotherapy, researchers found significant improvements after just 8 weeks.

Even more exciting? The study used both the POWERbreathe EX1 and POWERbreathe Classic as part of the intervention.

Following our recent webinar with Clare Chadwick, this is another important step forward for respiratory muscle training in paediatrics — because children aren’t just small adults.

💙 Building the evidence. Improving outcomes.

31 days. 5 minutes. Twice a day. 🫁

At the start of May, set herself a challenge: commit to inspiratory muscle training every day for a month and track what happened.

The result?

💨 Less air hunger and breathlessness
🏃 Easier running and gym sessions
👶 More comfort pushing a pram uphill
📈 Improvements in both her P-Index and Strength Test score

And perhaps most importantly:

“IMT is a non-negotiable for me. A step towards improving and protecting my lung health.”

Sometimes the biggest changes don’t come from doing more. They come from doing the small things consistently.

Prove it. Then improve it

⏰ We’re live in 30 minutes!

Join Professor Mark Faghy, internationally recognised researcher in Clinical Exercise Physiology at Loughborough University, for an important discussion on Respiratory Health and Rehabilitation in Long COVID.

Drawing on the latest research and a patient-centred approach, Mark will explore the impact of Long COVID on respiratory health and what it means for rehabilitation and clinical practice.

A summer of sport is almost here 🏆☀️

From the FIFA World Cup and Wimbledon to the Commonwealth Games, the world’s best athletes are preparing for moments that can be decided by the finest of margins.

The work starts long before the starting whistle, first serve or finish line.

It starts in training!

🫁 Stronger breathing muscles
💨 Improved breathing efficiency
⏱️ Better preparation for the demands ahead

Whether you’re competing, training for your next event, or simply looking to perform at your best, now is the time to start.

Because peak performance isn’t built overnight.
Build resilience. Perform better.

Out with the old, in with the new 💙🫁

We’re excited to be working with CrossFit athlete and Coach as she upgrades her trusty POWERbreathe to a new POWERbreathe PLUS.

Having managed asthma throughout her sporting journey, Lauren has already experienced the benefits of respiratory muscle training firsthand.

Now it’s time for the next chapter.

We can’t wait to follow Lauren’s journey, track her progress and see where stronger breathing takes her next.

When we talk about respiratory muscle training, it’s easy to focus on performance. But as Clare Chadwick highlighted in our latest Better Breathing Institute webinar, that’s only part of the story.

🫁 Breathing muscles respond to training just like other muscles in the body.
🫁 IMT can be used to support breathing pattern retraining, helping patients build awareness and coordination.
🫁 It can even be used as a warm-up tool before activity, particularly for those experiencing breathing pattern dysfunction.

Because sometimes the goal isn’t to breathe harder.
It’s to breathe better.
