One of my favourite yoga books is The Tree of Yoga by B.K.S. Iyengar.

In it, Iyengar compares yoga to a tree.

The roots are the foundations of practice.
The trunk is strength and stability.
The branches reach out into the world.
The leaves nourish and sustain us.

Many people first come to yoga through the physical postures.

But yoga offers so much more than flexibility.

It's a lifelong journey of growth, self-study and connection.

Like a tree, the deeper the roots, the stronger we become.

A gentle Sunday reminder:

You don’t have to start Monday already exhausted.

Take a walk.

Read a few pages of a book.

Spend time with people who make you feel like yourself.

Sit in the garden.

Have a cup of tea without rushing.

Sometimes wellbeing isn’t another thing to add to the list.

It’s remembering what can be taken off it.

One of the questions I’m asked most often is:

ā€œWhat actually happens during a Reiki session?ā€

The honest answer is… not much.

You lie down fully clothed.

There’s no effort required.

No stretching.
No talking unless you want to.

Most people simply experience an hour where they don’t need to be anything for anyone.

And in today’s world, that’s surprisingly rare.

One thing I love about yoga is that there’s always more to learn.

No matter how many classes I teach or courses I complete, I’ll always be a student first.

This week I’m revisiting a book that has inspired my practice and teaching over the years.

Yoga isn’t a destination.

People often assume yoga changed my flexibility.

It did.

But that’s probably the least important thing it gave me.

Yoga taught me to pause before reacting.

To notice my thoughts without automatically believing them.

To sit with discomfort instead of constantly trying to escape it.

The poses are wonderful, but the biggest changes happen off the mat.

For the next 7 days there will be no classes while I take some time to rest and recharge.

One thing yoga teaches us is that rest is just as important as movement.

We live in a world that constantly encourages doing more, pushing harder and staying busy… but sometimes the practice is slowing down enough to listen to what we actually need.

So for the next week, I’ll be taking that advice myself 🌿
