May was filled with music, creativity, companionship and special moments across Everwood Care Homes.

Residents at Little Haven and Heartland Manor enjoyed live music, sing-alongs, Scrabble, pebble decorating, visits from Cooper the PAT dog and time to reflect during Dementia Action Week.

It’s these everyday moments that help make life in our homes feel warm, social and meaningful.

As Carers Week continues, we’re recognising the daily care, patience and understanding that helps residents feel truly at home.

For residents living with dementia, this can mean calm reassurance, familiar routines and meaningful moments that help each person feel safe and understood. For families, it can mean knowing their loved one is cared for by people who take the time to know them properly.

This year’s Carers Week theme, Building Carer Friendly Communities, feels especially important in care home life. It reminds us that good care is not delivered by one person alone. It is built by care teams, families, friends and the wider community working together.

This Carers Week, we’re celebrating the people who make everyday life at Everwood feel warm, familiar and full of purpose.

Carers Week 2026 runs from 8 to 14 June, with this year’s theme focused on Building Carer Friendly Communities. It is about recognising unpaid carers, helping them feel understood and valued, and making support part of everyday life.

Across our New Forest care homes in Brockenhurst and Dibden Purlieu, our carers support residents with residential care, respite care, dementia care, daily routines, activities, companionship and those little moments that help each person feel at home.

From a chat over coffee to support with personal care, encouragement to join an activity, or reassurance for a family member, care is built through consistency, kindness and trust.

A lovely afternoon at Heartland Manor.

Residents, families and carers enjoyed time together in the garden with live entertainment from Joe, who performed a brilliant mix of songs from the 60s through to the 90s.

There was plenty of singing along, a little dancing and lots of smiles, followed by a delicious afternoon tea.

A lovely afternoon of flower arranging at Everwood 🌸

Residents created beautiful arrangements using roses, carnations, chrysanthemums, gypsophila and fresh foliage cut from the garden.

Everyone agreed it was a relaxing and enjoyable activity, with each arrangement becoming something special to take back to their rooms.

Of course, no afternoon activity would be complete without a cup of tea and a slice of cake afterwards.

What a lovely afternoon at Everwood Care! 🎶

We were delighted to welcome Delvis, who treated everyone to a brilliant singalong filled with songs our residents knew and loved.

It was made even more special as we were also celebrating Roy’s birthday. Towards the end of the performance, everyone joined together to sing Happy Birthday before enjoying a lovely birthday cake shared around the room.

April was a busy month across Everwood Care, with residents taking part in a range of activities designed to support wellbeing, social connection and enjoyment.

From live entertainment and a birds of prey visit to Easter activities, a church service and a 90th birthday celebration, the month offered plenty of opportunities for residents to stay engaged and connected.
