Today’s skin lesion assessment.

Compound Nevi, also known as compound melanocytic nevi, are common types of moles that present as slightly raised, often dome-shaped, pigmented lesions on the skin.

They are termed “compound” because they contain clusters of melanocytes (pigment-producing cells) located both at the junction of the epidermis and dermis and within the dermis itself.

Typically, compound nevi are light brown to dark brown in colour, but they can also be skin-coloured. They usually have well-defined borders and a uniform appearance.

These nevi can appear anywhere on the body and are most often found
during childhood or adolescence, with potential for growth proportional to the individual’s overall growth.
