New pharmacy NHS meningitis B vaccination service, starting 20th July 2026, for:

If you or your child is leaving school this summer and heading to university or residential further education, there’s an urgent NEW NHS Meningitis B vaccination service at Wainwrights Chemist, starting 20th July 2026.

Eligibility criteria:
* All Year 13 students (born between 1st September 2007 and 31st August 2008);
* Under-25s entering university or residential further education for the first time; and
* International students under 25 years old entering their first year of university.

University life is exciting, but living in halls and mixing closely with lots of new people increases the risk of Meningitis B, a rare but devastating disease which can become life-threatening within hours and causes death in around 1 in 10 people. Survivors can be left with life-changing disabilities.

💉 To ensure the best protection before university starts, two NHS-funded doses are needed, given at least one month apart. The first dose should be given as early as possible after the 20th of July 2026, allowing time for the second dose before the Autumn term begins in September.

He left his car for ten minutes and came back empty handed so he was clearly visiting someone but didn’t want to use their bin, opting to dump his food and drink rubbish outside our door.

Significant concern with submission - unable to exclude cancer and/or high likelihood of cancer-will require review and likely removal.

Notes to surgery
Patient has had it for over one year and it bleeds. The images show an erythematous base with what is either a keratinizing tumour centrally or a retention crust which is sat on top of something else. The differential diagnosis here is a squamous cell carcinoma but the slow appearance and lack of pain when pressed fits better with basal cell carcinoma

Advice
Needs to be excised.”

National Medicine shortages warning:

Sadly, the impact of conflicts in Eastern Europe and the Middle East extends far beyond the cost of living. These events are also disrupting global medicine supply chains because these regions are key locations for the manufacturing and distribution of many medicines.

As a result, medicines may be subject to shortages or delays.

All pharmacies are working closely with the NHS and suppliers to minimise disruption and ensure patients continue to receive appropriate treatment wherever possible.

What’s being done:
The government, NHS, and suppliers monitor and manage shortages to minimise patient impact.

What patients should do:
• Order prescriptions early
• Avoid stockpiling
• If your medicine isn’t available, you may be sent to another pharmacy, offered an alternative form of medicine, given a smaller supply or asked to contact your GP for a new prescription

Important notes:
• Pharmacies don’t share stock systems, so availability varies
• Alternatives may not always work the same - seek advice if issues arise
• In rare cases with no alternative, your clinician will guide next steps

👀 Notice something new on your skin? Changing, or not healing? Don’t ignore it.

Our patient was glad he didn’t and was immediately referred to his surgery.

“Outcome:
Urgent review - Significant concern. Unable to exclude cancer and/or high likelihood of cancer- will require review and likely removal”.

Squamous Cell Carcinoma (SCC) was diagnosed.
This is a common type of skin cancer that rapidly develops in the epidermis, the outermost layer of the skin. It appears as a rapidly growing scaly, red or crusted lump. It may feel tender, itchy, or sore, and can sometimes bleed easily.
While they rarely spread (metastasise) to other parts of the body, early detection makes treatment much simpler and more effective.
