Simple ways to fill your cup ☕️

Did you know stress and emotional overload can often show up physically in the body, especially through jaw clenching and teeth grinding?

When we’re constantly running on empty, the nervous system stays on high alert, and the jaw muscles are often one of the first places to hold tension.

Being mentally kind to yourself isn’t a luxury, it’s part of healing. 💙

Small daily habits like:
✨ slowing down
✨ getting better sleep
✨ taking mindful breaks
✨ spending time outdoors
✨ listening to music you love
✨ practicing gratitude

can help calm the body and reduce unconscious clenching and grinding.

At Essex TMJ Holistic Solutions, we believe TMJ care is about more than just the jaw, it’s about supporting the whole person, mind and body together.

Your jaw needs rest.
Your mind does too. 🤍

✨ Positive affirmations are such a simple but powerful reminder that our thoughts shape the way we move through life.

I was given this beautiful card after a floating sound bath the other day, and the message really stayed with me:

“I am capable of creating a fulfilling and meaningful life.” 💫

Sometimes we all need a gentle reminder that growth, healing, happiness, and purpose are possible, even in the small everyday moments. The words we repeat to ourselves matter.

Today’s reminder:
🌿 Speak to yourself with kindness
🌿 Trust your journey
🌿 Believe in your ability to create the life you want

What’s one affirmation you’re holding onto right now? ✨

Just experienced a floating sound bath… and I honestly don’t think words can fully describe it. Birthday gift for my bestie .

My body felt so heavy, yet somehow I was completely weightless at the same time. Floating in warm water while the sound vibrations moved through me felt like being suspended between sleep, meditation, and another dimension entirely.

The energy in the pool area felt like soft static electricity, light, tingling, peaceful, calming. Every sound seemed to travel through my whole body, releasing tension I didn’t even realise I was holding.

For that moment, everything slowed down. No stress. No noise. Just stillness, energy, and complete peace.

As a TMJ therapist, I would highly recommend experiences like this for anyone carrying deep tension in the jaw, face, neck, and shoulders. So many of my TMJ clients live in a constant state of tension without even realising it, and this felt like such a powerful way to help the body truly switch off and release.

An experience on another level ✨ Thank you and

Some client experiences stay with you forever 💛

Reading this beautiful review reminded me why I do this work. Healing is never just physical, our bodies hold stress, grief, trauma, tension and emotion in ways we often don’t realise until we finally feel safe enough to let go.

To be trusted with that process is such a privilege.

My treatments are designed to support the nervous system, release deep held tension and create a space where you can truly rest, reset and reconnect with yourself.

Thank you to this wonderful client for sharing such a deeply personal experience and allowing others to see what holistic healing can look and feel like ✨

If you’re carrying the weight of stress, jaw tension, headaches, anxiety, grief or emotional overwhelm, please know you don’t have to hold it alone.

When people think about TMJ treatment, they often assume the problem is only in the jaw joint itself… but the reality is so much more connected.
The jaw does not work in isolation.
The TMJ is influenced by the muscles of the face, scalp, head, neck, shoulders, fascia, posture, breathing patterns, and even the nervous system. When one area becomes overloaded with tension, compensation patterns begin to develop throughout the body.
This is why during my TMJ treatments I don’t just focus on the jaw joint alone.
I work with the neck, scalp, face, and intra-oral muscles because many of the muscles responsible for jaw movement attach into these surrounding areas. Chronic clenching, grinding, stress, poor posture, and nervous system overload can create tightness and trigger points that contribute to:• Jaw pain• Clicking or locking• Headaches & migraines• Ear symptoms• Facial tension• Neck & shoulder pain• Restricted jaw movement
Intra-oral massage allows me to gently access deeper muscles that cannot always be reached externally, particularly muscles involved in clenching and stabilising the jaw.
By helping release tension through the entire connected system, we can often reduce strain on the TMJ itself and support better balance, movement, and relaxation throughout the body.
Your jaw is not separate from the rest of you ❤️

There are two hormones your dentist probably never talks about when it comes to TMJ symptoms…

✨ Beta-estradiol
✨ Relaxin

These hormones play an important role in the female reproductive system but they also have a direct impact on the jaw joint.

Beta-estradiol can bind to receptors within the TMJ, influencing inflammation and potentially contributing to joint degeneration over time.

Relaxin, a hormone designed to help the body adapt during pregnancy, works by loosening ligaments throughout the body… including those supporting the jaw joint. This can create instability within the TMJ and affect the position of the articular disc.

What’s important to understand is that these hormones naturally fluctuate throughout:
• Your menstrual cycle
• Pregnancy
• Postpartum recovery
• Perimenopause & menopause

So if your jaw pain, clenching, headaches, ear symptoms, facial tension, or TMJ flare-ups seem to come and go, it may not be random.

Your hormones could be part of the conversation.

As a practitioners, I look at the body as a whole system. Hormonal health, stress, sleep, posture, breathing patterns, nervous system regulation, and jaw function are all deeply connected.

Your body is always communicating with you. The question is, are we listening? ❤️

Lately I’ve been taking some time to consciously recharge my batteries after an incredibly busy period helping all my lovely clients. I truly love what I do, but I also know that to give my best to others, I need to take care of myself too ❤️

For me, that means getting outside, feeling the soft sand beneath my feet, listening to the sound of the sea, and allowing myself time to slow down and reset.

Something I see so often in my clinic is how ongoing stress and emotional overwhelm can show up physically in the body, especially in the jaw.

Many people don’t realise they’re clenching their teeth, tightening their jaw, or holding tension in their face and neck until they start experiencing pain, headaches, poor sleep, or TMJ symptoms. Our bodies are constantly communicating with us, and stress has a way of finding somewhere to settle.

It’s Mental Health Awareness Week 2026, and this year’s theme is all about taking action. The important thing is finding what works for you.

For me, it’s walking, being outdoors, or spending time with my family, especially my grandchildren. For someone else, it might be slowing down, practicing mindfulness, breathing exercises, journaling, or talking to someone they trust.

It looks different for everyone and that’s completely okay. Often, it’s the small, consistent actions that can make the biggest difference over time.

Let’s continue having open conversations, supporting one another, and reminding ourselves that asking for help is a strength, not a weakness.

Most importantly, please remember: you do not have to go through things alone ❤️.
