A huge thank you to our fantastic conservation volunteer, Laura! 🪴

For the best part of a year, Laura has been joining us every Friday, lending a hand in the garden and helping to keep our green spaces thriving. More recently, she’s also started volunteering on Wednesdays, getting involved with conservation projects and supporting work on our information boards and Plastic Free July activities.

We’re incredibly grateful for Laura’s enthusiasm, dedication, and willingness to get stuck in wherever help is needed. Volunteers like Laura make such a difference, and we’re lucky to have her as part of the team.

Join us next month for Plastic Free July®

The shared global movement helping to reduce single- use plastic waste through making simple, everyday swaps and mindful decisions.

Take the pledge by choosing one plastic item to refuse in July (and hopefully forever) to become the solution to plastic pollution.

Through changing our single-use plastics to sustainable alternatives, we can form positive new habits that can help save the planet.

We want cleaner streets 🌳,Plastic- free oceans 🌊,
And environmentally conscious communities🤝

A Yoga and Wellness Festival is coming to Garon Park!

Yoga4all are back again this year for their annual festival 🎉

Including Yoga classes , Soundbaths, Workshops and family friendly activities.

Plus a Marketplace and Food stalls .

When: 12th July 10.30-5pm
Where: Garon Park, Southend
Cost : Tickets £10, Children Free.

All profits will go towards Yoga4all’s outreach work .

We’d like to give a huge shoutout to our incredible Conservation Volunteer, Ella! 🌿🐝

Ella does an amazing amount of conservation work and supports in the community garden. helping to create and care for spaces that benefit both wildlife and our community. Ella has also recently taken on supporting our newsletter and events, and played a leading role in developing our Pollinator Strategy.

As if that wasn’t enough, Ella was recognised for her dedication by winning the Environmental Champion Award at the SVAs last year! 🏆

Thank you, Ella, for your passion, hard work and commitment. We’re incredibly lucky to have you as part of the team, and everything you do makes a real difference. 💚

We’re proud to be partnering with to launch Forward Growing, a new community initiative designed to support wellbeing, recovery, and connection through nature. 🪴

Over the next 12 weeks, we’ll be welcoming participants from Southend Treatment and Recovery Service (STARS) to Garon Park for weekly gardening sessions, creating opportunities to learn new skills, build confidence, and enjoy the many benefits of spending time outdoors.

As our partnership grows, we’re excited to help develop a dedicated Forward gardening space at Garon Park, creating a lasting environment for recovery, learning, and community involvement.

We’re also pleased to support Forward Trust’s Thursday Walk and Talk Group, helping more people access green spaces, stay active, and build positive social connections. 🤝

Together, we’re creating opportunities for people to grow, connect, and thrive. 🌿

🪚🔨 A Huge Thank You! 🔨🪚

Wellbeing at Garon Park would like to extend a huge thank you to the Community Investment Board for funding our brand new woodworking tool shed.

This fantastic new space will be used by our current Garon Park Shed members, staff and volunteers. Providing opportunities to work on a wide range of woodworking projects, develop new skills, and come together as a community.

The shed will also serve as a valuable learning environment for children attending EH4CP, the alternative learning provision based here at Garon Park. We are excited about the opportunities it will create for hands-on learning, creativity, confidence building, and skill development.

We look forward to seeing the positive impact this new facility will have on so many people in our community.
