It can take just 15 seconds for a young child to lose consciousness if they get tangled in a blind cord. And sadly they can die in just a few minutes.

Make your blind cord safe, secure it on a cleat hook or use a tensioner (safety devices that should come with all new blinds).

For help about making your blinds safe visit: https://capt.org.uk/blind-cords/

When someone goes into cardiac arrest, the moments before ambulance crews arrive can make all the difference.

Thanks to a project funded by our charity, advanced paramedics are now using live video support to see what’s happening at scene in real time - guiding bystanders through CPR, supporting defibrillator use, and offering reassurance when it’s needed most.

In one case, a son performing CPR on his father was guided step-by-step through live video. Initially, the compressions were too shallow and too slow, but once the advanced paramedic could see what was happening, they were able to reposition him and coach him into more effective CPR.

With this real-time support and reassurance, he was able to help save his dad’s life ❤

“Providing callers with reassurance that they are doing absolutely the right thing has been hugely important. Even in situations where patients don’t survive, people are left knowing they did everything they possibly could for that person.” Liam Sagi, Advanced Paramedic.
