AFTERCARE MATTERS

✗ Don’t skip hydration

A common misconception is that Celluma Contour is a weight-loss treatment.

It isn’t.

Celluma Contour is a pain-free, non-invasive body contouring treatment designed to support circumference reduction & help you feel more confident in your shape.

The best results are typically achieved when treatments are combined with good hydration, regular movement & supporting the body’s natural lymphatic processes. Whilst lymphatic drainage massage is optional, many clients choose to include it as part of their treatment plan.

Many clients notice positive changes in measurements, how their clothes fit or how they feel in themselves, although the amount of change varies from person to person.

Questions? Feel free to message me to find out whether Celluma Contour could be suitable for you.

Did you know?

As we get older, our sense of thirst can become less reliable.

This is because the body’s thirst mechanism becomes less sensitive with age, meaning we may not feel thirsty until we are already becoming dehydrated.

Even mild dehydration can sometimes contribute to tiredness, headaches, poor concentration, dizziness and constipation.

The good news is that hydration doesn’t just come from what we drink. Many foods contain a high percentage of water too, helping to support our daily fluid intake.

With the warmer weather, it’s a good reminder to think about eating your water as well as drinking it.

What’s your favourite way to stay hydrated? Are you a plain water person, or do you prefer herbal teas, fruit or even the occasional ice lolly in the warmer weather?

Top Tips for Staying Safe in the Sun

With temperatures rising again and another spell of warm weather forecast, here’s a reminder on how to stay safe in the sun.

• Wear SPF 30 or above and reapply every 2 hours, even if the bottle claims all-day protection.

• Reapply sunscreen after swimming, towelling dry or excessive sweating.

• Stay hydrated by drinking plenty of water throughout the day.

• Wear a wide-brimmed hat to help protect your face, ears and scalp.

• Wear sunglasses with 100% UV protection (UVA & UVB) or UV400 protection.

• Avoid prolonged sun exposure between 11am and 3pm when UV levels are often at their strongest.

• Seek shade where possible, especially during the middle of the day.

• Remember that UV rays can still be strong on cloudy days, so sunscreen is still important.

• Wear protective clothing where practical. Fabrics that are tightly woven and difficult to see through generally provide better protection.

• Don’t forget often-missed areas such as the tops of the ears, back of the neck, feet and lips.

• Some medications can make your skin more sensitive to the sun. If you’re taking regular medication, check the patient information leaflet or ask your pharmacist.

• Wash off any massage oils before spending time in direct sunlight, as some oils may increase skin sensitivity.

If you have a massage booked with me (or any therapist for that matter) and have sunburn, I won’t be able to carry out your treatment until the skin has fully healed. Sunburned skin is already inflamed and sensitive, and massage may cause further discomfort or irritation.

If you’d like to explore Tropic’s range of skincare and sun protection products, I’ve included a link to my webshop in the comments. Tropic is known for its vegan, cruelty-free products and commitment to caring for both your skin and the environment.

Enjoy the sunshine safely and take care of your skin 💟

One of the biggest misconceptions about lymphatic drainage massage is that it should feel firm.

In fact, one of the most common comments I hear afterwards is:

“I thought it would be much firmer than that.”

Unlike a traditional massage, lymphatic drainage uses gentle, rhythmic movements designed to support the body’s lymphatic system. The pressure is intentionally light because many of the main lymphatic vessels sit just beneath the surface of the skin.

Lymphatic drainage is also very different from many other types of massage because it follows the body’s natural lymphatic pathways. Rather than focusing on muscles, tightness or areas of tension, the treatment uses specific movements in a particular sequence to encourage lymphatic fluid to move through the body’s natural drainage routes.

The direction of the strokes matters. Following these pathways is an important part of the treatment & helps support the natural flow of lymphatic fluid around the body.

Lymphatic drainage feels very different from a deep tissue or Swedish massage. It isn’t designed to work deeply into the muscles or leave you feeling sore afterwards.

Instead, most clients describe the treatment as calming, soothing & deeply relaxing. Some even drift off to sleep on the treatment couch.

Following treatment, people may notice they feel less puffy, lighter, more comfortable in their clothes or simply more relaxed.

People choose lymphatic drainage massage for a variety of reasons. One of my regular clients books lymphatic drainage massage to support her mobility & tells me her legs feel more comfortable and easier to move. Her family have also commented on the positive changes they’ve noticed in the way she walks.

While many people enjoy the benefits of a one-off treatment, the greatest changes are often seen with regular sessions over time, particularly when lymphatic drainage forms part of an ongoing wellbeing routine.

As with any treatment, experiences vary from person to person, which is why treatments can be focused on the areas that are most important to you.

If you’d like to find out whether lymphatic drainage massage could be suitable for you, feel free to send me a message 💟
