šŸ‚ The art of letting go

Throughout October, the copper beech has been quietly finding its way into my world at Camomile Lawn.

It's our tree of the month, inspiring our yoga practices, our seasonal reflections and the poem we've been sharing in class this week ~ Copper Beech by Paul Glover.

I've been noticing how much there is to discover about this beautiful tree, from its association with wisdom and knowledge to those wonderful copper leaves that eventually fall.

And perhaps that's the lesson I keep returning to.

The letting go.

As the seasons change, we're invited to turn inward and notice what we're holding onto, what has served its purpose, and what we might be ready to loosen our grip on.

The trees don't seem to struggle with this. They release their leaves in their own time, without rushing or forcing.

Perhaps we can borrow a little of their wisdom.

In yoga, we create space to notice what we're carrying, soften where we can, and allow change to happen in its own time.

šŸ‚ As the leaves begin to fall, is there anything you're ready to let go of?

A little woodland magic at Camomile Lawn 🌿

On Saturday, we gathered for Whispers of the Woods ~ a couple of hours of woodland stories, aromas, creativity and deep rest.

I love bringing these experiences to life, weaving together the things that inspire me most: our connection with nature, the stories held in the trees, the aroma of the seasons and the space to slow down and simply be.

And there are more little gatherings taking shape behind the scenes…

As we move towards winter, I’m exploring the bright, uplifting world of citrus. And when spring arrives, we’ll turn towards the language of flowers.

Each one will have its own character, inspired by the season and the natural world around us.

They’re not quite ready to share just yet, but I thought I’d leave you with a little hint of what’s to come.

If you missed Whispers of the Woods and would love to join me for another woodland gathering, do let me know. I’d love to hear from you.

Autumn is really here now, isn’t it? šŸ‚

Misty mornings, cobwebs catching the dew, conkers appearing in pockets and the leaves beginning to turn.

This week I’ve been noticing all these little signs of the changing season ~ and finding myself stopping just a little more often to take them in.

The beech tree, October’s Queen of the Woods, has been featuring in my yoga classes over the past couple of weeks. We’ve been exploring its connections with wisdom and knowledge, and we’ll be continuing our relationship with this beautiful tree throughout October. 🌳

And then there’s the Camomile Lawn book club…

Since I first mentioned the idea, I’ve received some lovely suggestions and book recommendations. I’m rather enjoying seeing this little seed of an idea begin to grow, and I’m looking forward to discovering what it might become. šŸ“š

This week’s Sunday Letter is full of autumn noticing, a rather unexpected nature partner, trees, books and the little things that make this time of year so special.

You can find it in your inbox, or subscribe via the link in my bio.

A windy day in the woods calls for a hat. šŸ‚

As Autumn arrives so does my hat. Ā  When I’m out walking it makes me feel grounded and secure, as though I’m tucked into my own little space, whatever the weather is doing around me.

I had a favourite hat once. For years, it accompanied me on my woodland wanders, and apparently it became something of a trademark. People recognised me by it!

Then, two winters ago, I lost it. And I’m still mourning its loss.

I’ve found a replacement on Vinted. It’s ok, it does the job and keeps the wind out. But it’s not my hat.

Funny, isn’t it, the things we grow attached to? The familiar things that become part of us, that hold memories and feelings we might not even have realised were there until they’re gone.

So, for now, this new hat and I are finding our way together.

One windy woodland wander at a time. 🌿

Autumn has been arriving quietly in the woods.

The softer light.
The fungi appearing beneath the trees.
The little changes you only notice when you slow down enough to look.

And I’ve been noticing a few little changes at Camomile Lawn too.

Recently, someone described one of my candlelit classes in the Garden Studio as feeling like a spa experience.

Then, at another class, someone else said almost exactly the same thing.

It made me stop and think.

Perhaps there is something rather lovely about creating a regular candlelit space to stretch, breathe, rest and simply enjoy being there.

I’m not quite sure what it will become yet.

And I’m learning not to rush these things.

Sometimes it’s enough to notice what’s emerging and give it a little room.

I’ve written about this, along with the changing autumn light, the things I’ve been noticing in the woods and a few other little ideas taking shape, in this week’s blog.

A book, a cup of tea, birdsong in the garden… and a little more wondering. šŸŒæšŸ“–

The idea of a Camomile Lawn book club has been quietly growing from conversations with yogis in my classes.

In fact, this very book was lent to me by one of them after it came up in conversation. The Island of Missing Trees has been keeping me company lately ~ alongside my tea, my garden and the occasional interruption from the birds.

I mentioned the book club idea in my Sunday Letter, and it also features in this week’s blog.

I’m still wondering what it might look like…

A small group. A good book. Tea. Conversation. Perhaps a little nature connection woven through it too.

Nothing too formal. Just another way of coming together.

And perhaps this is how these things begin ~ someone mentions a book, someone else lends it to you, and before you know it, you’re wondering who else might like to read it. 🌱

Would you be interested in being part of a Camomile Lawn book club?

🌲 The little things growing quietly

I stopped in the woods this week to look at a conifer, and noticed something I might easily have walked straight past.

Along the branch were the older cones ~ and tucked in beside them, the tiniest little ones.

New ones, quietly beginning.

I don’t know whether they’re next year’s cones, or perhaps the year after. I don’t even know exactly how long they take to grow.

And actually, I quite like not knowing.

There was something rather beautiful about seeing different stages of growth on the same little branch.

What has already grown.

What is still growing.

And what is only just beginning.

A little reminder, perhaps, that not everything needs to be understood or hurried along.

Sometimes it’s enough to stop.

Look.

And notice. 🌿

I’ve been noticing lots of other little things in the woods this week too ~ fungi, softer autumn light, and the way the trees seem to glow when the sun comes through them.

I’ve written about them, along with a little bit of what is quietly taking shape at Camomile Lawn, in this week’s Sunday Letter.

A week with Camomile Lawn 🌿

A little glimpse behind the scenes of the week just gone…

Setting up for Seasonal Yin & Rest, heading to the lake for EcoNidra, making space for Reiki, lighting the candles for an evening of yoga, Aroma Flow at the Laurie Apted Building… and, in amongst it all, finding my way back into the woods.

Different spaces, different practices, different moments of rest.

But really, it all comes back to the same thing ~

creating little pockets of time to pause, breathe, notice and reconnect.

This is a week with Camomile Lawn šŸ¤
