💙 Breastfeeding – Myths & Facts

There are lots of myths about breastfeeding, so here are a few facts...

✅ Fact: Breastfeeding doesn't always come naturally. It often takes time, patience and support for both parent and baby.

✅ Fact: Breastmilk changes as your baby grows, adapting to meet their nutritional needs.

✅ Fact: It's normal to ask for help. Midwives, health visitors, infant feeding teams and breastfeeding peer supporters are there to support you.

❌ Myth: If breastfeeding is painful, you just have to put up with it.
✅ Fact: Pain isn't something you should simply accept. There are many reasons why feeding may be uncomfortable, and support is available to help.

🌍🤱 World Breastfeeding Week | 1 - 7th August

This week we're celebrating World Breastfeeding Week, a global campaign to raise awareness of the benefits of breastfeeding and to ensure every family has access to the support they need.

Breastfeeding has many health benefits for both babies and mothers, but it's also a journey that can take time, patience and support.

Did you know?

💙 Breastmilk provides all the nutrients a baby needs for around the first 6 months of life.
🛡️ It contains antibodies that help protect babies from infections.
🧠 Breastfeeding supports healthy growth and development.
❤️ For mothers, breastfeeding can reduce the risk of breast and ovarian cancer.
🤝 Many parents need support with breastfeeding – asking for help is completely normal.

At Miller Pharmacy, we're here to offer friendly advice, answer your questions and signpost you to local support services.
