🌿 Essential Oil Spotlight: Peppermint 🌿

Peppermint essential oil is rich in menthol, a natural compound that activates the body's cold-sensitive receptors (TRPM8). This creates the familiar cooling sensation that makes peppermint one of the world's most popular essential oils.

🔬 What does the science say?

✨ Menthol can create a cooling effect on the skin by stimulating sensory nerves.
✨ Research suggests that diluted peppermint oil may help ease tension headaches when applied topically to the forehead and temples.
✨ The aroma of menthol can make breathing feel more comfortable by activating receptors in the nasal passages, even though it doesn't physically unblock them.
✨ When diluted and massaged into the skin, its cooling properties may provide temporary comfort for tired muscles.

💧 How to use safely:

• Always dilute with a carrier oil such as Bio-Oil before applying to the skin.
• For aromatherapy, add a few drops to a diffuser or inhale gently from a tissue.

A little midweek movement goes a long way ✨

We’re really excited to be launching our brand new Wednesday morning Pilates class in Houghton 🧘

The class runs from 9:30am to 10:30am and is designed for all levels, whether you’re completely new to Pilates or already have a little experience under your belt.

With a small group setting, the sessions are designed to feel supportive, relaxed, and welcoming while helping to improve posture, flexibility, strength, and that all-important mind and body connection 💛

Classes are £72 per person and spaces will be kept limited to keep that small class feel, so if it sounds like something your body’s been asking for lately, we’d love to see you there!

Ever noticed how your body can feel more stiff after doing… absolutely nothing? 🤔

Whether it’s after a long day sitting at a desk, binge-watching TV, or waking up in the morning, stiffness after inactivity is super common.

Here’s why it happens 👇

🩸 When we stay still for too long, blood flow slows down, meaning muscles and joints don’t get as much oxygen and nutrients.

🪑 Sitting in one position for ages can leave some muscles shortened while others are overstretched.

💧 Movement normally helps keep the tissues around muscles nice and “slippery” — without it, things can start to feel a bit sticky and tight.

😴 Even during sleep, fluid can settle around joints, which is why many people feel stiff first thing in the morning.

🧠 Your nervous system can also become more sensitive to prolonged positions, almost like your body’s little reminder saying: “Oi… time to move!”

The good news? 🚶‍♂️

Usually, gentle movement is the best medicine:

This course is all about creating space to slow down, reset, and learn practical tools you can carry into everyday life 💛

Throughout the sessions, we’ll explore simple mindfulness and meditation techniques designed to help with:

🌸 Stress and overwhelm
😌 Relaxation and better sleep
🎯 Focus and mental clarity
⚖️ Feeling more balanced and grounded

No previous experience is needed at all, just come as you are 🤗
